The irony of the direction Ubisoft chose to take with Shadows.
Shadows could have easily been the best selling AC game ever made, if Ubisoft would have used an actual Japanese Samurai instead of going the political agenda route. Now the game is going to flop, and they are going to have to sell of the company, firing most of the staff.

The samurai being a black person is not the sickness, it's the symptom. Yasuke is the least of this game's problems.

This game is f***ing amazing. I'm not sure what you are complaining about. Yasuke is based on a historical character, Naoe is a phenomenal character in every respect. The story is terrific. There is enough historical inspiration to scratch that itch for me. I don't at all expect it to be perfectly historically accurate, but heavily inspired by it with twists on actual history. I think it does great in this regard.
The stealth gameplay I think is the best in the series, and I've played every single one of them. So, I'm not sure what your complaints are.
Hitler from "Sex with Hitler" is more historically based than Yasuke :D

It couldn't have been the best selling as the best selling game was Valhalla which released during the pandemic.

However, it currently has the second best launch of the series, and the best launch of any Ubisoft game on the PlayStation Store, so this game has probably done what it set out to do, it's plain sailing from here on out.

To call it a flop is completely ignoring all the evidence that points to its success. If this game is a flop then only 1% of AAA games are success.

OMG get over it, its not Samurai Creed, its Assassins Creed
and Yasuke being black is actually genius. As a retired samurai he probably wouldnt be of much use if he was native japanese cause then he probably would have commited seppuku.

Yep the black guy they inserted for DEI reasons was a mere curiosity in Nobunaga's court, there's not much more than one paragraph mentioned somewhere in the pages of history.

All that is known is that he was a former slave who was paid for and "freed" by Oda Nobunaga, who found him an interesting oddity. He was made Oda's sword bearer, given a house and a small lot of land, but was never given the title of samurai nor lord.

He took part in two conflicts and was responsible for the removal of Nobunaga's head after he committed seppuku (suicide). After Yasuke was passed to the custody of one of Nobunaga's former associates, who then promptly sold him to the visiting Jesuits, most likely in Miyazaki, which was one of the only open ports at that time.

A fraud "historian" called Thomas Lockley ran with this and filled in the blanks writing what can only be called fanfiction for the purposes of entertaining western audiences for personal gain, all of the documentaries and articles reference this stuff, including Ubisoft culminating in abomination.
Yeah so what? In what world does Ubisoft need to make this a historically accurate story?
Yatsuke existed so they can have free reign within their fictional fantasy story.
It’s not a documentary. It’s a video game.
You know, within the franchise that has aliens and supernatural beings/ abilities?
So aliens, that’s totally accurate and fine for you but a black guy in Japan is what triggers you? 🤣

In a world where Ubisoft themselves worked with historians to push the idea of them providing the most accurate representation possible of history...? 🤡
Or what, did they hire historians just to crap on the face of history and make Yasuke gay for the fun of it?

Again it’s a franchise that has ancient aliens, monsters and other fantasy sci-fi stuff. I suppose black guys are totally unrealistic within that setting right you 🤡
Ubisoft tries its best to be historically accurate when it comes to representing the open world, culture and codex.
Their open worlds are always extremely detailed and 99% of the time period accurate. Do they make mistakes? Yeah. But it’s not big deal. They never claimed for this to be a 100% historically accurate experience.
What they said was that they are trying to have a higher level of accuracy. They did not say it will be 100% accurate.
Do you not understand the difference here? Then go learn the English language again.
And they hired historians ever since the first game tf are you talking about 😂

You are aware right that Ubisoft initially claimed multiple times to be pushing the idea of "historical authenticity" while representing Japan and its culture respectfully and faithfully, such as highlighting there collaborations with historians and cultural experts?

It was only AFTER the backlash with Yasuke and that fraud Lockley that they trotted the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ out about it being entertainment and fiction.

They tried to make the appeal to authority to sell the idea of a african samurai as historical and then got their pants pulled down by their own activism, basically, piss off your gaslighting is about as effective as Ubisofts marketing.
Authenticity ≠ accuracy. Open a dictionary if you can’t understand the difference.
They made this claim before every single Ac release.
Odyssey and Origins are historically authentic too but definitely not 100% accurate.
What matters is that they feel right, not wether they actually are right.

Yet never before they used the wrong language for the marketing material, insulted a whole culture with missplaced Tori gates, claimed a slave historic figure was a warrior of renown and then proceed to depict that figure as homosexual.

You can cry all you want, but if you can't see where Ubisoft missed the mark, then you'll never understand why the company failed. Neither will Ubisoft ;)

It worth leaving here that Ghost of Tsushima got it so right that the directors of GoT got named permanent tourism ambassadors of the city of Tsushima in Nagasaki by the Mayor of Tsushima for quote “spreading the name and history of Tsushima to the whole world in such a wonderful way” and even invited the whole Sucker Punch team to Tsushima to celebrate and also presented the team with an award and a letter of appreciation.

Ubisoft has got nothing but criticism and that speaks volumes
We are coming to the age where an rpg not having a choice of male/Female is inexcusable and downright political they should work better plot lines and let people choose the character.

You start lobbing off big % of salea by alienating people and a simple character creator could of gained you a lot of sales. I want to play male Japanese Samurai as European Male not Asian Female or African Male.

because game developers aren't making games for pure entertainment anymore somehow they feel the need to put their far left politics views first before fun , but more about spreading their ideology and world views that most people dont share , im not only talking about that game in particular but most games out there, they are full of weirdos that want to put politics and religions in media when it doesnt belong.Putting religion and politic in a media for entertainment is always a risky move, you going to please one side and alienate the other, and now most game devs are pushing THE modern audience BS for such a minority of people that most aren't even gamers.
In the end they are making it for nobody but themselves , it so funny man how such simple concept seems to evade them and continues making games for no one and lose tons of money in the process , lose their jobs, and yet.. let do it !!!! even mooooree!!!!!

Yasuke the black samurai has been part of Japanese popular culture since 1968 when public attention was drawn to his existence by the award winning book Kurosuke. Anyone who says anything about him only being known because of Thomas Lockley proves they don't know ♥♥♥♥ about the subject and should go sit at the kids table while the grown ups are talking. He is a part of Japan's culture no matter how much it pisses you off.

Still doesn’t explain in what way they missed the mark or did anything different than from the previous games?
I see zero issues with any of those thing within a fictional fantasy game.
