Worth it for the open world?
Despite reviews being mixed on the story and gameplay, the graphics of this game look quite pretty. Worth it to buy just to explore the open world?

You'll need a DeLorean if you want to go to Sengoku Japan. Kyoto is only so big.
The weather system is incredible. And also impactful (easy to sneak during a storm!)
Love the grass, trees and flower moving in the wind, the leaf flying when the wind blows. It's all amazing!

The castle detailed maps are also amazing!

The character build option are quite fun and diverse too!

With 50 hours into it, my main critics, as someone who was playing Cyberpunk DLC (Phantom Liberty) only last week. NPCs are lacklustre.
And another nitpick, switching between Naoe and Yakuze takes like 5 seconds and the 5~10 seconds season change mini movie is also annoying.

Do seasons change with game time, by choice, or at specific story intervals?

After a certain amount of game time passes the game waits for a cutscene to happen to change seasons.
and you can manually change it as well

About an hour and some change in real time, though if the season is at least halfway done you can opt to manually change it. The season will swap next game reload screen, so swapping characters, fast traveling, etc

Open your map and look on the right side. H on keyboard and right dpad on a controller
Nice! I was hoping it wasn't just a storyline novelty.
Ok you guys have convinced me I’ll pick up the game soon after I clear some backlog. Didn’t know the game even had seasons that’s interesting

It had season AND weather.
You have rain, rain storm, snow, snowstorm, fog, sunshine, night and day. It has a nice fire & flames. Nice rivers.
I don't think I have not seen lightning, I think.

And waterfall are not very good. And underwater is not as good as Odyssey.
