This. This is what we should really be talking about. If a mere page made a pass at a daimyo's sister, that'd be a SERIOUS problem, historically. Even if the daimyo were already dead, his retainers would take umbrage. Not to mention, Oichi was given to Shibata Katsuie, who was not a man to be crossed. As far as the original comment...

Courted? Doubtful. First of all, Yasuke was not in a position to court his lord's sister. He just didn't have that kind of status. Secondly, courting wasn't standard fare in a daimyo's court. Daimyo generally arranged marriages within their court, especially where their own kin were involved. There was no dating scene in feudal Japan.

The real question you should ask is...Why is Ubisoft so obsessed adding sh.it like this into the game. And then even in such a huge dimension? Its already worse enough making turning a black servant of Oda Nobunaga into a full grown tankish Samurai which Yasuke never was. But then also giving me the option of either romance this non-binary dude/chick/thing whatsoever or an influential figure like Oichi Nobunaga. With cutscences and everything? I personaly thing Shadows has way more other problems that should have been fixed in the first place than adding such BS.

That's Oda, Oichi's surname. It's Asian order so Oda Nobunaga is Nobunaga, of the Oda clan. Oichi probably didn't use her surname much, but if she did, it'd be Oda Oichi.

So every single RPG player characters has to be bisexual nowadays to reach out for the "complex and disverse demographics". :)

Imagine choosing this as your hill to die on "There are options I don't like so I'm gonna argue about it" Like dude, if you don't want your character to be gay don't choose the gay option. Literally nobody is holding you by gunpoint to have gay kisses.

What hill? Sex sells and Bisexual character is the most marketable sexuality to include all possible options - the king of sexual variety. So every single RPG player characters has to be bisexual nowadays, and every story characters can be Lesbian/gay, that's all.

Yasuke was never a real Samurai in any circumstance. Its true he was a servant and guard for Alessandro Valignano who brought him to Japan. And then became a servant and weapon bearer for Oda Nobunaga...but to become a real Samurai you have to be born into a Samurai Family. Not even Tom Cruise in The last Samurai was a real Samurai even though he wore the traditional Samurai Uniform at the end.

It is not the default just by existing. By that token I can say that you are gay because the option for a gay relationship exists. If you do not want him to be gay in your playthrogh then you do not choose it. That is not what option or default means at all.

This is actually a thing people say. Many NB people believe you are in flux until you have made your choice on to express or not express yourself just as trans people say many are just waiting for the egg to crack.

So yes you can indeed say I am gay for just existing. It’s an accepted concept in modern sexuality that you can identify and be something before you act on it. Yasuke can be gay and therefore he is.

They even make the choice to be gay harder to resist by having more gay options than straight to subconsciously get you to think that those options are ok to try first. Because like you said you are “free” to choose. But you are not. Even the number and context of the options is the manipulate you. The defense of it not being in cannon mode is them pushing to choose the gay romance with the defense. “You can be now and it won’t matter later we won’t tell” the game wants you to be gay and in denial about it.
