Yasuke was a predatory tactic.
I don't know if anyone else has picked up on this but there's a predatory tactic behind Yasuke. They give you a misleading taste of him at the beginning to entice you if you don't like Naoe, but then take him away for 12+ hours so that if he's the reason you're playing, by the time you get him, you've invested too much time into the game to refund it on any platform. Yasuke is completely unfun to play as, he has more or less 0 parkour, he's slow and clunky, absolutely no assassination skills, and only has 2 skill trees compared to Naoe's 6. Naoe is by far the superior character and the one the developers want people to play as. He is only in the game to appease people and try to avoid DEI accusations, but in the end, the game is designed to be played as Naoe, she is the assassin and protagonist, Yasuke is just her supporting role. So you'll get a very sub-par experience with Yasuke and he's genuinely not worth using unless the game forces you.

So if you're okay playing as Naoe, by all means you'll love the game, but if you don't care for playing as girl with bad voice acting in a game that deviates from historical accuracy and dis-respects Japanese culture and heritage just to be DEI, but instead want to play Assassin's Creed and use stealth, you're out of luck. You either play as Naoe and you like it, or find something else to play.

I didn't post this to create drama or rage bait anyone, but I noticed this today after unlocking Yasuke and put two and two together. I'm just not interested in the game anymore after unlocking Yasuke, I really wanted to play the game as him but he is just terrible to play as since his only stealth is crawling along the ground whereas Naoe has great parkour, she can climb almost anything, she actually has a hidden blade, and she's the one the game was designed for.

He has always been sold as a slow, but skilled monster of a man that is entirely specialized in combat. You can play the game as him if you're down with him, and some people are, but the default experience is Naoe with a bit of Yasuke to break up the monotony of sneaking through your tenth castle in a row, or do his quests, or generally just walk around as a dope samurai and have people bow to you.

He lumbers and snaps tightrope because it's the game reminding you that you play Yasuke to break down the door and kill everyone, not to sneak up a castle throw a window. That's a Naoe thing. Same reason even a normal goon will 3 shot Naoe (on expert); to remind you Yasuke's role is to take fights head-on.

If you like Naoe, focus on Naoe and just play Yasuke when you feel like going apesh!t.

it kinda makes them both suck, because now enemies have to be designed to fit both play styles.

but stealth requires game play asks for easy to kill enemies that kill you easily if spotted, but tanky enough to fight the tanky guy.... but have routes that make it possible to slip by... but also not too easily to walk by because you should be fighting them with the tanky guy....

it muddles things

That what their audience wants, it's actually a selling point of ubisoft games

It's better in your hands, but weird for sure.

Honestly, Yasuke could have fit into the game as a companion like Yaya, just some guy you summon to kill everyone in a room and then he disappears. I wonder what happened in board room meeting that made someone say "let's make him playable too!" and everyone said "YES!"

Ultimately it's more ways to play the game at 0 cost to the Naoe experience, so it's hard to get mad at it. But it is weird.

I will say it is cumbersome and frustrating seeing a door that only Yasuke can barge through or, the inverse, a door only Naoe can sneak through and open from the other side. It forces you to change, which is a load screen, and if your season is up, it also advances the season and resets the game world. At best it's Starfield-tier load screens for basic gameplay.

At worst it's really frustrating to have wrapped up a whole castle, find you need to be Naoe to do X, but the season will change and everything is going to reset if you do like you rested at a bonfire or something.

This was a misconception I had, but rest assured Naoe can do anything but bust down doors meant for Yasuke, which are few and far between. I at least use Yasuke explicitly as a palette cleanser from the typical AC experience.

Honestly, if you Git Gud at the game, Naoe can do and kill anyone and it's genuinely really exciting and compelling to fight as her, even if I feel the combat system relies too heavily on bad guys spamming red attacks to keep you away. She's not as combat powerful as Eivor or Kassandra because some of the budget went to Yasuke, but make no mistake, she is fun, lethal and effective, so it comes out in the wash - for me, anyway.

Yasuke is cool because he is built to 7v1; after all, every guard in the courtyard is barreling toward him, but it's not as tight or exciting because every attack sends someone flying lol

Maybe turn on guaranteed assassination, it's in difficulty customization, options menu. Though I find it kind of trivializes some of the stealth when you can sprint towards the Daisho, kill him, then leap over a wall and you're home free.
