For me it says it's numer 3 globally (number 2 if you leave out CS2 wichis free to play). But Shadows was no. 1 for a few days. Steam hasn't been important for previous AC titles anyway. Valhalla was the most succesful AC ever and it wasn't even available on Steam for two years after release.
