Man was a slave, brought to Japan by the Portuguese. The first time you see Yasuke he is a toss in with a chair to allow the Portuguese to move through the shores of Japan without issue.

The main character is a teenage Japanese girl, but Ubisoft decided to show Yasuke as the main character. They knew what they were doing. The main crux of the story revolves around Naoe though.

Yasuke is Japanese, he is black-skinned but that does not change the fact that he is Japanese, he has largely contributed to the history of Japan, Oda Nobugana himself depended on Yasuke and spoke of him as the best samurai he had ever known.

ah yes the typical wikipedia expert that was debunked multiple times and proven to be fabricated
HyperionZ 23 de mar. às 3:04
Because a couple of months ago they purposely edited a wikipedia page stating the actual history of Yasuke so they can fit a narrative into this game. You can use archive.org for evidence and you'll see how they've changed it. Simply put, this game just like a lot of recent Ubisoft titles were made for a political message.
Anyone saying this is accurate doesn't either know what's going on and went along with what Ubisoft said, or is paid by Ubisoft to defend this messaging.
This in turn is why everyone is also mad at this game despite the positive reviews.

You have been misinformed.
Yasuke Wasn't Japan, He was African.
Some "modern Sources" defend that he was a Samurai, But the only solid info is that oda nobunaga gave him a sword.
And the worst thing is, Ubisoft is trying to change real history for this, Due to this game, They heavily edited English Wikipedia about Yasuke.

These are false ideas spread by fascists who cannot stand the fact that Japan has a black samurai. They base their words on hot air, whereas I have sources proving what I say because all the experts on the subject talk about it. Don't let yourself be manipulated by the haters:

No. He is at the start of the game with a scenes lasting a a tiny bit longer than the templar-start in Unity. Then he is absent for the rest of ACT 1 (some 10 hours +), only needed for a couple of missions after that.
Naoe is the main

If anything Yasuke would have benefitted from a couple more scenes for better context in the game. A training montage, some training-scenes etc. Now he is practically just given sword + armor just like that which is bad writing (no, not ideological driven or anything like that, just good ol bad writing)

Guys, stop listening to the racists. This is translated right from Japanese sources:

The mighty Diamo Yasuke arrived on our shores in 1679 of great size and strength. Warlord Nobunaga summoned him out of a desire to see a this mighty black man. Subsequently, Nobunaga took him into his service after realizing his great intelligence and wisdom and gave him the name Yasuke. As a samurai, he was granted a sword, a house and a stipend. Yasuke introduced many new concepts to the Japanese and invented sushi, the use of chop sticks and music and and poetry to the Japanese people. He also fathered many children within the Japanese royal family including the bloodline of the current Emperor. He accompanied Nobunaga until his death and fought at the Honnō-ji Incident where he slew 10,000 soldiers. After the death of Oda Nobutada, his captors were so in awe of Yasuke that he was offered the Emperorship or he could leave freely. He chose to leave.

It's up to you whether you want to believe random people on Steam or experts on national and media channels... There's also a very interesting anime about him: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LlqSxViFSI

Yasuke is considered Musashi's equal, no less; he's an exceptional samurai, so have fun playing the game.
