Assassin's Creed Shadows
Is Ubisoft really splitting up after Shadows?
I was reading in a couple different locations on the internet, one was Asmongold but I don't trust him as he'll say anything to play upon and manipulate people's bitterness and ignorance. I'm sorry for saying that, I'm not trying to belittle him or cut him down but that's what he does. But the other one was Bellular News on youtube and I was wondering if anyone can confirm this. Is Ubisoft going out of business or are they splitting up into a couple new studios? Is it even true at all?

Sell itself to tencent, go private.

How does this work? You're selling control of the company to another.
When your very expensive game can't even get the numbers of veilflop you're done. Alot of people are clearly playing this shiz on gamepass which is really bad for ubi lol. I don't mind maybe now we will get some good games from the ashes of these long dead companies

Game will still be at a loss for unbisoft no way gamepass money will make the difference they are in such a massive hole of debt, not to mention their games just flopping all over the place. Can't wait to see what happens in the next month over at ubi lol
They havent made a successful game in years.... and they have made several bombs. There was a clear push by NGO's to give money to game devs to make a certain type of game. Those games have fallen flat on their collective faces. The real question is:

Who would by such a damaged game company like UBISOFT?

Take Bellular with a grain of salt. They recycle their content, right down to re-using thumbnails. Ubisoft is going strong, they are worth $1.72 billion as of 3/20/2025. There is talk about them selling specific parts of their gaming division, but that's very, very old news. Their performance on ACS is off to a strong start, but will take more time to level out once sales numbers are confirmed.

If it were on Xbox gamepass, I was just showing the potential earnings
Probably yeah, they made a lot of bad business choices that lost a lot of cash, most notably Skull and Bones and Star Wars Outlaws, and they also have way too many employees for the amount of games they put out. At one point they had close to 20000 employees across 30 countries.

Unless you're looking at a financial or press release, don't trust anything related to Ubisoft you read online.

The more left-leaning media and talking heads hate them because they're a toxic place to work. Which, sure, describes almost literally every developer but it's all about finding a punching bag then jumping on the bandwagon.

The talking heads on the right hate them because apparently they're woke. Even though, you know, their games aren't particularly woke, and there's plenty of super successful woke games they brigaded at launch that they now claim aren't woke and that they love. But, again, it's all about finding punching bag and jumping on the bandwagon.

The reality is that Ubisoft has been in degrees of trouble since about 2005. Looking at non-mobile non-platform owning software publishers, Ubisoft has consistently been one of the ones with higher revenue. Their pre-order numbers were good for Shadows, so you can probably expect that revenue again won't be an issue,

Problem is, they've vastly overstaffed and have been overstaffed for years. Their operating costs are through the roof, higher than what you would believe are larger companies like EA and PlayStation (who despite needing to run hardware and services businesses still employs significantly fewer employees than Ubisoft), as a result Ubisoft are hemorrhaging money, and at some point they're going to need to do serious layoffs if they want to survive (and expect all the "haters" on both sides to point that as a sign of them closing up shop).

So expect layoffs, for sure. They're also likely to sell off some of their less successful IP to places like Ten Cent and Embracer. Whether they'll stay in business and independent is mostly dependent on how quickly and efficiently they downsize, whether Shadows has any legs, and whether they can get more products to market in a timely manner. That's all up in the air, but initial numbers for Shadows look good, so... see where it goes from there.
Yes Ubisoft is 1.8 Billion in debt they made no sales on AC shadows. So its a wrap for Ubisoft. Investors are filing lawsuits.

Numbers for shadows look good?! We're in the heck are you looking for you to think that?! This game is a bomb 💣 no way in heck they even break even with the amount it cost to market and make this game

Get Woke, Go Broke.

Only when the game fails right? But when it succeeds like KCD2, Split Fiction or Baldurs Gate 3 (wokest game i've ever played btw) the bigots either say "it turns out it isn't woke!" or simply evaporate from forums to go target a new release :D

So, you listened to two youtubers and figured you'd ask other people who have no idea? You can see the problem here, right? Youtubers do it for views, negativity is stronger than positivity for viewership and given how much was surrounding shadows, it's a gold mine.
I'm going to quote Script Writer Guy:

"Unclear!"
