The reason they gave that this way people have to play the situation as it comes, made sense to me. I have to play my situation instead of always setting up the situation myself.

That mechanic won't work with the complex seasonal change mechanics because both are timed events and if you screw around with the timing of the day/night cycle then you screw up the more complex timing of the seasonal change cycle.
