The map is empty
Yes the map is huge but except for a few areas in each region the map is completely void of anything worth while.

I jump off random cliffs into hay piles all the time in real life! Why, just once I was at Chimney Rock and...
Valhalla is empty. This one is compact enough for me to not use a mount.

Nice argument, but it's a fantasy fiction setting, why it should be realistic? There is even a black samurai, which never exist.
This is pretty normal for modern AC games.
There will be lots of grinding as well (that seems pointless and without story context)

This is does to encurage you to buy microtransactions.

Ahhh so the same argument as microsoft with Starfield?
That the moon is empty, but everybody loved going there, it was very exciting...... just not in a videogame.

Japan was pretty empty back then, too. People congregated towards castles and protection. It's not like there were big villages much where else to stumble onto.

That's a classic Ubisoft open world experience - it's been like this since Far Cry 2
