Maybe gaming sucks cause this is like the 13th main title in a series with over 20 games. Ubisoft probably went with Yasuke, cause not a single one of those lose youtubers even talked about the last AC game, which we all remember the name of, I am sure.

If it checks boxes for the sake of checking boxes, especially changing history to satisfy some checkboxes, that's woke-centered design and we want none of it.

Nah. The entire history of this game, changes the history of historical figures. So when people say that, I called BS on it. It's simply because it's a black samurai that the history is not 100% known, that's the problem. If it was William Adams, we wouldn't be having this conversation right now.

I'm not saying it's a problem having attractive women in games, I'm saying that people are weird for hating so much on a game, just because the woman isn't dressed in the sexiest clothing and has the most wildly proportioned bodies. I play games just to have fun, and have never cared about what the protagonist looked like. I have real women in my life, to scratch that itch.

I'm as anti woke as it gets but this is getting ridiculous. They say they have no problem with black people in games, but they cry about EVERY game with black people. If the Telltale Walking Dead game came out today, they would call it woke.

Well that's one perspective on it.

Personally, I support the studio's freedom of expression. I don't want either side forcing the devs to censor the game.

I agree that devs can do whatever they want but if it means changing already established series so much that original players who made it success are served water instead of wine then reaction should be expected. And there is no good side in this "point of view" exchange, name calling etc. is used by both sides. Origins was different than previous titles yet success (https://www.vgchartz.com/article/270771/assassins-creed-origins-sells-an-estimated-151-million-units-first-week-at-retail/) so in my opinion situation about shadows is not just about "white male or an extremely attractive anime hentai chick" but what is main difference is that player in previous games was fictional character but in this one they choose real one. Fictional character can go and bash everybody they want, set on fire half a city and it is fine but when done by real one it is just a little bit "problematic" and dividing. Some people cares and some don't

A lot of them aren't even gamers. Valve has seemingly welcomed white supremacist Nazi chuds from 4Chan and The Daily Stormer. I love Steam and Valve as a generally very pro-gamer company but they are not doing nearly enough (or perhaps much of anything significant at all) to deal with them.
