Why is Nioh okay and AC Shadows not okay ?
Knowing that the main character in Nioh is white, and in Shadow he's black, Yasuke was really a Japanese samurai, and yet...

One wonders what the problem is...

I sincerely think Ubisoft needs to put the Japanese political clowns in their place. Japan has absolutely no right to speak. Let them do what they want in their own country, but let them not bother us Western players. Shrines must become destructible again. :apolloShout:

Okay, I'm going, I have nothing more to do here, I'm not going to buy the game as long as the ridiculous censorship exists, if it ever gets removed I would appreciate it if a player would post on this topic to let me know...
Because he is black
that's honestly the only reason
there is so many racist people still in this world
a huge amount of them are sadly here on steam

if it was up to me they would all be banned from steam.

At least make your bait believable, put some effort into it. This is just sad.
Cause Nioh is a good game and shadows is not.

That's exactly what I think too; it's just abject to see such a level of racism and hatred, especially when it comes to a Black character; there's a kind of jealousy. An immediate rejection even though he was a samurai under Oda Nobunaga, and he was known as the most powerful.

There is no definitive proof Yasuke was a samurai
Nioh was made by Japanese developers who chose a white protagonist because it would sell well in the West. Both are poor choices for characters when making a story about Feudal Japan, but I guess Nioh gets a pass because Japan can do whatever they want with their own culture. When making a game about another culture, it is important to respect that culture. I don't have a problem with Yasuke personally, and many stories have been written that included him. Where Ubisoft failed was not making the clear distinction that this was fiction. In Japan, they are very forgiving of media labeled as fiction. Ubisoft tried to have it both ways, telling people this was based on history. If they came out and said "this is our fictional imagination of what people from history were like" they'd be in a better position.

As for the shrines, I am generally against any actions that limit player freedom. Games like Fallout New Vegas are great because you can do virtually anything (e.g., kill any adult NPC). You won't want to, but you can. And knowing you have ultimate freedom makes the world feel real. Consequences exist. Life and safety matters, because anyone can die. I feel like the shrines should be destructible, but there should be serious consequences for doing so, such that no one would do it.

He was most certainly not known as the most powerful samurai.

This is just complete crap. It's not even known if he was an actual samurai or not. The person behind the wikipedia pages created them and edited them himself, and went into hiding when the Japanese government started to notice.

There's nothing wrong with a black guy butchering a bunch of Japanese people in a game, but in an Assassin's Creed setting, this is rough, because this was the prime chance for them to make a proper Japanese game, and they went with a black guy because... reasons?

If this were Gears of War, nobody would care he's black. The fact that he easily overpowers his enemies in game is also a psychological trick to make him appear stronger than the surrounding Japanese npc's.

Calling people racist every time they have a different opinion than you, makes the word lose its meaning and be less impactful when actual racism exists. You do you, and the black people you have a white savior complex for, a great disservice by constantly telling people they're racist for no reason.

Apart from Nioh being a fantasy game, it was made by Japanese developers. If they wanted a white protag in their game, based on Japanese folklore, then have at it.

Funny how most of the reviews are positive.

Yeah, the Japanese just love to respect other cultures by genderbending historical figures into big boobed anime ladies. Of course, the people who pretend to be offended by Yasuke do not get offended by these big boobed anime ladies.

Fun fact: SMT4 got criticism from Hindus for portrayals of their gods, this was dismissed by nonsense by and large the same people who are now being "offended" by this game. I recall this same issue happened with SMITE.
The male char was originally Japanese, it was changed halfway through, it was not planned originally.

If the game was in Africa 99% of the people would not be complaining about him being black.
If they made him white they would complain about making him white...

Lets set the next AC game with the Zulu's, lets make the main char white, lets make him cuck Shakra's and impregnate his women.

Not disrespectful at all...
