It's confusing to me how Ubisoft single handed popularised the stealth genre with Splinter Cell, then implemented stealth brilliantly in many Assassin's Creed games and Watch Dogs and now they simply can't do it anymore.

It's not really confusing OP. The developers that made those games no longer work for Ubisoft or have retired, and Ubi isn't known for treating their developers well. Chaos Theory came out 20 years ago.

To this day, Splinter Cell is my favourite franchise in gaming. It's a shame that Ubisoft completely lost its way.

That remake of Splinter Cell 1 they announced years ago isn't happening anymore, is it?
