Hoping for macOS version thru Steam
I was hoping that launch day brought the macOS version to Steam. I bought it here to play on my Steam Deck and M3 Max Mac. Guess I gotta buy it twice if I wanna game on my Mac too. Lame.

I am hoping the Mac version comes to Steam as well. There is no reason it shouldn't, unless UbiSoft signed a deal to only have the Mac version on the macOS AppStore.

Let's hope not.
I reached out to Ubisoft and got this reply. So far no luck with their recommendation. I played it a bit on my Steam Deck last night. I've now also reached out to Steam. Seems like Ubisoft thinks it should work.

Ubisoft's Reply:
I understand that you have purchased Assassin's Creed Shadows on Steam to play on the Steam deck and MAC but are unable to download the game on your Mac device.

We recommend that you try to launch the game on Steam to try and sync it with the server and then attempt to download it on the Mac device through Steam.

If you are still facing issues with downloading the game on the Mac device, we recommend to check with Steam to make sure that there are not restrictions that prevent the Mac from downloading the game through their platform Store.

Remember that if you need help with anything else or have any more questions, you can contact us anytime.

Ubisoft games are not supported on MACs
Buy proper PC, and not that expensive toaster.

Shadows was released for the Mac natively yesterday along side all the other platforms. I use my expensive toaster for lots of things besides games including professional software dev. Gaming on it is just a plus. CrossOver on my Mac works great for most games I play, but native is always better. Besides I'm happy with my Steam Deck most of the time.
