Character choice

Question for those that own the game.
What format of character choice did they go with?
1. Syndicate - You have to play both characters to progress
2. Odyssey - You have one character for the whole game
3. Valhalla - You can finish the game with one character but can swap at will.
4. Something else?

In the prologue you start off with Yasuke then it moves to Naoe. At that point you'll mainly play as Naoe for several hours.

I've only gotten that far, but from my understanding is that after you unlock Yasuke, you can start swapping between them mostly at will. This allows you to swap between their different play styles.

There may be story telling moments that will lock you into a character, but I'm unsure because I haven't gotten that far yet.

It's between 1 and 4, Yasuke and Naoe story line is completely different.

Does this imply they are different and required to finish the game? Or different and you can technically ignore that part of the story if desired, and still "finish" the final missions so to speak?

4. something else. At least so far as I've gotten. You play as the guy for a bit at the start then it's a whole lot of playing as the woman and even after I've gotten to the part I can free roam still just the woman. You may be able to switch later but I'll have to keep playing.

I haven't got that far yet, but there are certain mission/quest you need to play as Yasuke. Otherwise you can't progress.
