Thanks, had to start again unfortunately. I do have my save games backup weekly to an external source but it happens on a Friday so haven't recovered anything. Drats!

I just had this happen to me too. I wonder if it's somehow related to Windows Live and editing the config files to not play the startup videos - potential race condition if you proceed too quickly?

I'm now backing up my Documents folder (holds many save game folders) hourly vs daily.

Saves becoming lost or corrupt is a problem with Games for Windows Live itself. It's never been fixed properly.

Back when Batman: Arkham Asylum still used GFWL (before it was removed), there were complaints of lost or corrupted saves. See here for example: http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?t=96261

This also just happened to me. Know where can I find save game files if I want to back them up (Windows 8)?

The CHECKPT save file is in the Documents > TRON Evolution > SaveData > 0xXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX > Save folder.

You could also use a program like GameSave Manager to automate backing up your save from TRON Evolution and many other games.

is there a way to to save without gfwl then? So the only possible corruption would be from the game or bad hard drive? Like xliveless for fallout 3 and gta4?

No, you need GFWL installed to be able to save your progress in TRON Evolution. As for XLiveLess, there are various versions of it that are supposed to work on more games that use GFWL and not just GTA IV. But, again, I never tried any of them with TRON Evolution.

Regardless, XLiveLess doesn't eliminate the need for GFWL, it just removes the requirement of being online for it to work (and therefore disables Multiplayer in the process).

This thread is really old, so I'm not sure if CJake will respond. But I imagine by &*#$# he meant GFWL corrupted his saved game and that it's a garbage program.

Well I didnt install GFWL when I was playing GTA4 or fallout 3 with XLiveless, so in my case it *did* eliminate the need for GFWL....

Oh wow...you're right....I just necro'd a 6 year old topic.....lol Oh well, the topic related to my current issue so there was no way going around it anyways.....heh... :steammocking:

As for that program you recommended, well I tried it out to see what it was like, since like some games dont keep backup copies in case of corruption like this and it seems to stall when scanning minecraft save files....

Huh. Every tutorial I've seen about using XLiveLess showed GFWL installed already . . . so since I haven't tried XLiveLess myself, I'll take your word for it that it can work that way, too.

GameSave Manager can take a long time to process save files that have a large number of files or are large in size. There's a forum topic about it here, and an explanation on how you can skip scanning saves for a certain game: https://forum.gamesave-manager.com/viewtopic.php?t=143

One of the reasons why I use XLiveLess was because GFWL for some reason wouldn't install or if it did, it wouldn't run for some reason so gave up on that as I don't really care for the achievements that nobody is gonna appreciate and went on to see if I could run the games without GFWL and that's how I found XLiveLess..... So maybe it works because I had some remnants of GFWL left over even after uninstalling it?

There were other reasons too....like at one point I didn't have internet to save which apparently some games, like this one, requires an online account and not a local account to save...or so I've read...so just in case I don't have internet in future and wanted to replay a game using an old save file....

Do you use this program yourself? To do your periodic copies and backups?
