Install game, start steam in offline mode, start FSX.
yes i know how to do it, but will it work? because many games on steam even if they have single player offline mode, they allways require that you have an internet connection.

And my doubt is if FSX SE will require it.

FSX has a totally seperate single player and free roam so you dont need a connection for it
Thanks guys ;)

good question.. I was wondering this despite I owning it just never tried it.

Xplane X dosn't alowe Steam offline mode.. you have to be connected toplay XplanX without doing a steam to retail loop hole to play offline

Am I the only one who can't run FSX in offline mode? It says that FSX can't detect a Steam login or something among those lines. It's really annoying and I hope the devs can do something about it.

Only reason you should need to be online for FSX is for real time weather or if you want to fly online with real ATC, if there is anyone out there still doing that. You should be able to get real time weather without Steam. I don't know how FSX online works within Steam.

I've tried to start FSX in offline mode and a window pops up telling me that I need to be logged in Steam in order to run FSX.

Is there something wrong or was this intended to be like that?

I've scanned the store page of FSX:SE and I haven't found any warning that the game can't be run offline.

I'm a big supporter of FSX and I was glad to see it in Steam but offline is a must for me since I don't always have an internet connection available.

Did you start steam in offline mode? i cant see why you cant play offline the game has a large single player portion that requires no internet to play
Udet 20/dez./2014 às 15:25
I don't understand why either but if I'm not logged into Steam I can't start FSX:SE.

And I know how to, and I do play games offline. This one's not the only game I have on steam.

It doesn't want to run offline... big disappointment on this side.

If this is DRM it's even worse that the one the DVD version had.

Anyone else with this problem?

No, in fact I just loaded FSX:SE "off-line" and snapped this screenshot of KEDW for another post I made here:

Have you started FSX:SE on-line at least once? This is required. After that, you should be able to either:
1. Start Steam, righi-click on "Steam" label and select Play Offline
2. Double-click on the desktop icon for FXS and play off line automatically

I've done exactly what you say and all I get is this message:

'You must be logged into Steam to play this game (Steam Log In Failed)'

I don't have this problem with any other steam game...
Stormrage 20/dez./2014 às 17:33
they do it because of security reasons thats y u have to have internet to start it
Udet 20/dez./2014 às 17:47
Yes, I know that. But my surprise comes from the fact that DVD version allowed offline playing after online activation. This always-online DRM is a dumb secutity measure and I just wanted to be sure that it was true before starting to tell everyone not to buy this game until this measure is removed, which is what I am about to do as soon as I confirm this.

Even Ubi ended up understanding this... Unbelievable...
