Blitzkrieg won't launch in Win-7
Loved the game as a kid, scooped it last night, and it doesn't run. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, AMD Radeon 7960 Ghost, AMD FX-8120, MSI board, on a Samsung SSHD. All drivers for windows, cpu, board, and graphics are current. I've tried running in XP sp2 compatability mode, different resolutions, running in and out of steam, I've cleared all shortcuts on the DEP list, and tried re-installing a few times. The most I ever get is the loading screen. Any help would be appreciated, I need to play me some Ukraina or Red Barricades my dudes!

((//EDIT: My dudes! I got it to run on my other pc.. Its still Win 7 64 bit, but not ultimate. Still all AMD stuff though. What ended up working was: running game.exe in Windows XP sp2 mode, running the game straight from the file while logged into Steeeem. Must be some driver issue with the other pc because I wiped that one and did a ground up rebuild with an SSD.

Anyway, thank you to everyone who responded. I haven't been on steam much lately, but now I will be for sure. Got the Blitz on the big screen with the surround sound and my (legal) hash pen..
My God, if I had this setup as a sophmore in HS. Any of you dudes feel free to hit me up for a game anytime.\\))

Playing Blitz in Win7 64bt with no problems. I don't use any compatibility settings. I am using Nvidia card tho.

What loading screen are you reaching? Is it the Blitzkrieg logo when you first boot up the game, or are you making it to the game menu and trying to start a scenario?

I had the same issue, the game just starts a rundll32 process which takes a whole cpu core and nothing else happens.

Fixed it by setting compatibility mode on game.exe in the game directory to win98, then it runs fine. Though I found the game mouse cursor to be slightly lagging, but this is easily fixed by using a system cursor in the game options menu. It's black&white but it's fully responsive.

This needs to be done separately for Burning Horizon and Rolling Thunder, cause they have separate game files and don't seem to share anything with the base game.

I have a problem with this game at my secondary computer (Lenovo T420) with Windows 7 Professional 64x. I cant run this game, when I push play button, there is 'launching' info but after few seconds it disappears. I've tried run with compatibility (all options) and nothing. When I try to run direct from .exe there is an error screaming about "MSVCP120.dll" file is missing. On my primary PC I have Win 10 and game running without any problems...

You probably need this: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784 (32bit version)

I found a better solution to this problem that does not require downloading the .bat file to disable gameux.dll. If you've already done so, I recommend undoing the changes and following the steps in Option #1 from this reddit post instead.

The new method is preferrable because it doesn't seem to have any side effects with games like BioShock that require gameux.dll to be enabled.

Seriouisly, what gameux.dll, what game explorer, what shady batch files...? Simply set the compat level on the game binary and it works fine on win7 without any other fiddling.

You don't have to download any batch files (it's not shady though as I've used it myself). All that is needed is to disable the server calls to Microsoft that all these games make when you launch them.

If using compatibility mode works then that's fine too, but you'll need to repeat the process for every game that has the same problem. Applying the registry fix only needs to be done once.
