It is probably a good idea to take a few minutes to read the entire first post of any mod you want to use so you know how to install and use it. Generally all of the information needed to properly install and use the mod is there as well as common issues. Also a good idea to read the last few pages of the thread so you can be up to date on current happenings. Most mods come with a Read Me in the download which also has instructions for installing and using the mod.
