Everybody asking the same question is getting annoying
Just tried though, and It has alot of problems running. Can only run it (if I am lucky) in Laptop, even though it still crashes 66% of the times..
It sounds like I walk on a plastic floor and it kills the atmosphere.
Also I can't use the ESC button to go back from sub-menus (options and crafting menu).
Is it a feature or the lack of it? :)
I love most of the new stuff, but...
1. Your terrain generator could use a little work, very first world I created and first shipwreck I investigated, it wasn't flush with the ocean bottom and there were huge gaps where I could see under the shipwreck model (and under tons of rocks/coral/ocean debris.)
2. The bloom/reflecting glow on some types of coral seen from above (I think the water surface is responsible for this) is over the top. It was like a blindingly bright neon orange-red, and when I investigated to view the coral in the water to see if it was a metallic-shiny rock that would make sense to produce that effect, it was just bland flat gray-brown coral. This should be toned down.
3. What's with the low-poly underwater environment? That's such a huge part of the game, and if you're swimming around you're usually going to be looking at it up close. The rocks are all jagged low-poly, a lot of the coral are flat 2d planes at random angles which means you're always going to see a few of them at an off angle which ruins the illusion.
(And before anyone inquires, my settings are all Ultra and the game runs fine, it's nothing like that.)
4. Also getting a lot of LOD / "pop in" of things that really should've rendered into view distance sooner so the player won't see it. You don't seem to have a setting for View Distance anywhere in Options.
I was literally able to stand "30-40 feet" away from a tree, step forward and back and watch as it swapped between the low LOD "2d texture" and back to the high detail tree. That's fine and all, but it should be dependent upon a player's PC specs so we can up that view distance. I personally hate seeing pop-in when I don't have to, nothing ruins immersion faster.
Also, Water Quality is locked to Medium?
5. With the Backpack open, I'd like to be able to drag items into different slots to organize keybinds (i.e. putting a weapon on 1, paddle on 2, etc... however someone wants to organize what's important to them.) There currently isn't any dragging, you have to do it by dropping items and picking them back up... but this means if you want to get something into "slot 3", you have to drop every single other item in your inventory after 3. Which means if you're carrying a bunch of resources... you get to spam crap everywhere. When it could've been solved with simply allowing dragging an icon from one spot into another to rearrange your inventory.
6. There's a lot more Palm trees than the regular Trees, and (obviously) we can't axe "special" trees. Hopefully that'll be fixed eventually?
6a. The noise when using the axe is more like a very quiet click now, doesn't seem appropriate. Needs some wood splintering noise to let you know you're actually hitting the target, not a swing and a miss.
The inventory icon for Sardines also looks like a Lionfish, which was extremely alarming as I didn't want to poison myself, lol.
Crabs: Where'd they go? (Edit: Like the poster below me, I thought the crabs were removed, but I finally found a crab hole on another island. They seem far too rare/infrequent now.) When you spear/put a crab into your inventory, it also has no icon. Their hitbox when dropped on the ground is also too huge, which makes dropping a pile of crabs look ridiculous as they kindof float on top of each other. Needs to be tighter.
And as others have mentioned, haven't seen many trees with coconuts either, despite checking many. I think you overdid the "food scarcity" a little bit... variety is fun, not always being forced to go spearfishing.
Fish Traps: I had a Bucket equipped (I had been trying to fill it with sea water, and distractedly went to go check my trap) and leftclicked on the trap while holding the Bucket... and it put the Bucket inside the trap, with no way to reclaim it. Not very intuitive to use, should only let you actually put bait inside it, and needs a way to remove things.
Building: Is it even possible to build walls? I had foundations down, didn't see the lil support poles anymore, so I plopped down walls of different types and they all broke apart into huge gray untextured chunks. So no walls, roofs, pretty much no actual building per se... Can't say I'm very enthused about the game taking steps backward instead of forward progress... Though I guess the ocean waves are nice?
