Now I'll do the opposite, updating my gpu to the latest nvidia driver. But honestly, I do not expect much from this, as my other games can run well even without the latest driver.
I haven't tried reinstalling though, as it is 31.8GB, in Indonesia it is not as easy to download, it is too time consuming.
My brother was having the same exact problem many others are having where u open the game launcher, click play, and nothing happens. It acted like it was going to sync with steam and then nothing. He tried all of the fixes mentioned before: verify game file integrity, uninstall/re-install, run as admin, try updated video (nvidia) driver, etc..the typical stuff people always blab out when there is an issue on a pc. audio and dx drivers were up-to-date, I would also mention that he runs windows 8.1 on an average system that falls somewhere in the middle for the requirements.
After 2 days of frustration, he just happened to click on a notification for a windows update...did the ones recommended and suddenly the game began working. Apparently, there is an update that specifically corrects a problem with some games trying to sync with Steam and this is the actual problem since its never able to sync with steam so u would never receive any error or notification or anything. So if you're one of those guys who doesn't update often and u have tried all of the other fixes to no avail...check windows updates.
Sounds like a permissions issue. I would try right clicking the game icon and selecting "run as administrator." Windows has became weird with permissions restrictions lately, even when you are the only account on the pc and set as administrator you will find that sometimes you have to do this. Its stupid, I know. Hopefully this helps.
Thanks! Although I searched online, I found the solution is to turn off my antivirus software (360 security in my case). Now it runs! Finally!
Yeah, glad I solved it.
Although if you don't mind, I want to ask you about the game performance. You see, 970M should be plenty to run this game right, in medium-high settings. But there's heavy stutters while in scope / binocular mode, especially when you zoom in and out. The whole screen flickers like crazy!
It does not happen while you move around though, it is quite smooth. But the issue starts when you use binoculars / scope.
Does this happens to you?

Close Steam. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL and close Steam.exe in the Task Manager.
Open Steam and attempt to run the game. If it still doesn't work, right-click Sniper Elite 4 in your Library. Go to Properties -> Local Files -> Verify Integrity of Game Files.
yeah I do have trend micro, but it doesn't let me know anything is wrong I will have a look at that. Also just did the process I posted and it worked without having to verify game files. I'm just about to check updates aswell
Hope this works for you people.
