jesus christ...will they have a stage pack?
A stage pack is not needed.
But that's what FM is for, unlock them for free.
(reminder: only get ones you want, you can totally still play with people who have stages unlocked that you don't have, so don't worry about that)
whats the grind like for FM though?

You have until the 16th get all of it before they change the system to switch which modes give you FM.
Once AE launches, you'll earn FM in a new way:

I'm saving up all my FM exclusively for stages because by now I'm so sick of the default ones. It's a shame more people I fight online don't have DLC stages. I've only fought on the beach once, England castle twice, and Thailand twice. I still have never seen the others. Though I expect come Tuesday every other battle will be at Sakura's house.
Same here.
But I can undestand that some stages are not used often for various reasons, for example:
Akuma / Thailand stage: performance drops on low end machines
Beach stage: banned from tournaments, because of the water covering/hiding some objects.
Sky / Plane stage: creates motion sickness to some people
But to be honest, I don't really need either costumes or stages. The most important stage for me is the training grid, because it lets me gauge distance when training. But other than that, all other stages and costumes are a luxury. The only stage I've bought so far is the Malaysian beach stage, simply because I'm Malaysian. Saving up for Sakura's stage, but there's not a lot else that I really want, even if they do look nice.
