Everyone is lagging
I can't play, I can't improve, Everyone keeps frame skipping and hitting me.

How do you guys deal with it? I'm about to quit because of this netcode.

The netcode is not the best for sure but if EVERYONE lags for you your own connection is likely the problem. Are you wired or using wifi? The latter would explain the miserable online experience...

Make sure that your PC can maintain 60 FPS (+/- 2 FPS measure tolerance), all the time.

From practical experience a bad GPU driver version, or faulty Windows KB update + power safe mode settings can already mess up performance.

Not only WiFi, but sometimes it's also sufficient when a background application, or service is uploading/downloading something or scanning your PC, to get frame skips or in worst case teleport lag (connection fluctuation) - close/stop/disable them.

Of course your opponents also need to meet these requirements.

=================

If you have issues with specific players only, use the blacklist feature. If you always have issues with specific regions, it's better to use PeerBlock to filter all these out. The best fix however would be if SFV had these performance and connection filters implemented natively, so we don't have to worry about it.

As long as you have some nearby friends with quick+stable connections and the framerates required, the online is very good and consistent.

With extreme salt. And something else.

I hope one day there will be option to forfeit the game.

Like forfeit, but only lose half the LP you would’ve lost if you stayed and got beaten? That would sound fair to me

If everyone is lagging (especially the flags close to your country), then the problem is you. For example i have yet to encounter a single lagger with European flag.

I use ethernet cable. I've played with wifi before, it was impossible.

Go to meter.net/ping-test/ and check your ping to different nearby countries. If the ping is above 100 ms then you need to check you internet connection. Also see if you have stable ping represented by jitter. If you have a lot of jitter there will be dropped combos, frame skips and all kinds of things happening. Jitter should be ideally around 1ms. If both jitter and ping is fine, then it could be your geographical location. You should be closer to the core player base with good internet otherwise given the netcode (which is the worst of all fighting games I own) of this game you will have terrible game experience. I have switched through three different ISPs and nothing has improved since I am far away from the core playerbase. Constant teleport, missed combos are something I deal with all the time. It has gotten worse after the recent update. That is the way it is.

If he is on wifi it would make his opponent's life miserable not the other way round. I have constant trouble when playing against PS4 players who are on wifi.

So, I tried this test of yours, and it seems the best connection I have is with Austria - average 39.3 ms; jitter 0,6 ms and the worst (quite surprised, to be honest) - Spain 80.0 ms; jitter 11.1 ms. Comparing Canada (Vancouver) - 189.6 ms; 1,1 ms jitter, and the ocean apart - It's totally unexpected. But also explain why 99% of Spanish players make my life miserable online.

Yes the netcode has a hard time compensating for jitter. To be fair killer instinct has the best netcode of all fighting games. Even that game would struggle to compensate for bad jitter. When your ping is stable the game can compensate within the prediction barrier. With a stable ping the prediction barrier is around 200ms for GGPO but SFV netcode suffers with anything beyond 150ms in my experience.

Yup, KI has the best netcode. Several weeks ago I had, what probably was the best and smoothest SFV experience in a while. In like 100 matches I had that day, maybe 4 were laggy. These few days, or more likely ever since the update, the online is crap. Choppy matches, teleportation, etc. It's driving me crazy, so I decided to drop online for some time.

This lag fiesta happens after every update. There is a pattern to it. I do not know why!

How do I deal with it? By... not lagging? Haven't seen any lag, to be honest.

They probably mess something up. Tried online once more. I liked the part where I almost perfect them only to get pummeled 10 seconds after. If only I were as ignorant as I was at the beginning of my SFV adventure. At least I would think I'm bad...

If forfeit is ever introduced, you should lose 2x LP for being a biooaaaatch and not staying to get molested like a real man.
