Please give players the option to choose where they want to start their adventure!
It's been complained about before, and people (myself included) will keep complaining about it: not everyone wants to start their new character in the latest purchased chapter location! I want to start as the soul-shriven, not some rando that woke up somewhere and was somehow compelled to look for a wayshrine, travel to a specific location, and talk to some hooded figure. What's more, if you do it like this, you keep your inventory, which ruins the who idea of being in the afterlife, and a prisoner. It's not immersive and it breaks continuity!

I thought that by deactivating the 'dlcs' in Steam, I'd be able to start in Coldharbour, but no, I still start in Balfiera's dungeon during the tutorial.

I get it, you guys want to expose the player to their latest purchase as quickly as possible, so reverting everyone to always start in Coldharbour is obviously not an option, but then, at least let us choose where we want to start (from among the chapters we already own, I mean) during character creation. Is it really too much to ask for? :steamsad:

They granted your wish in the previous update. Now you pick to start either at 1 of the chapters you own (if any) or at the startpoint for your respective faction (like when you left Coldharbour before starting at DLC chapter was a thing). You start at a generic tutorial that teach you the basic moves and makes sure you use them before move on, then you reach a large room w portals to every zone I mentioned (the ones you don't have access to are blocked but still visible).

You'll experience it next time you make a character. Enjoy :)

Really? Cool! :steamhappy:
Then, I suppose, this topic can be closed.
Thanks for the reply! :steamhappy:

DO NOTE though: Only if you accept to do the tutorial.

If you skip, you will still be teleported to the start of the latest chapter you own on every single new character you make.

Since the tutorial is rather fast though (and completely pointless story wise apparently), no biggie - just be aware that you need to do the tutorial every time you start a new character for this to work.

Also it doesn't give you the option to start in Coldharbour. You still have to do the port to the hooded figure bit. It just gives you the choice to start in your starter area (the bit you end up in after Coldharbour) or the dlc of your choice.

This guys right... you MUST start with the Tutorial in order to start your journey where you want. Skipping this feature will auto start you in the latest Chapter you have available. But like he said, it is fast to get through, but above all... it offers full gear of what you want your build to be. You can choose full Heavy, Medium, or Light, a Staff, Sword, 2-Handed, ect... which if you Skip the Tutorial, you have to fend for yourself on finding gear for your character. So it's a win win there. Should always start with the Tutorial.

Damn it, just as I was getting hyped up. :steamsad:

The whole point to doing the Coldharbour bit is to rescue the Prophet. This is required in order to unlock the main quest line. You can start your alliance quest line by traveling to the wayshrine of the starter island for your alliance. You can rescue the Prophet from his prison at anytime.

New players have like 4 choices to go to when they start
CallMeGeRoS Aug 25, 2021 @ 6:57pm
everything should be conected and in order even the tutorials for each chapter, i mean the greymor one i liked cus was when i started playing but still, this should have an option to do quest in chronological order or somehting

We don't have anything like that from ZoS part, but there is people who put time and effort to compile list of what would be lorewise the [approximate] best order to play everything in ESO. I don't have the links to post here, but be confident that a simple search will net you the right places to get that information. IIRC, the DLC content should be player after all base game content in the same order each zone was released, including DLC dungeons cuz they do form part of the story.
