I would happily pay for additional DLC packs as well. That way Kunos could monetize this for years to come. Anyway, just crossing my fingers. Either way, I'm excited to see what AC EVO is all about.
It's sad sony will never release gt on pc. And i'm still waiting for someone to come up with a great career sim or simcade game on pc :(
Dude, absolutely 100% agree. GT for PC would be absolutely huge. We all know that would never happen. Just seems like a huge opportunity for Kunos... 🤞
Not a fan of the whole menu book system. I like how older career modes were more based on license tests to progress. It was more challenging than being able to race anywhere after just a few tests.
GT7 doesnt have a proper career, which is unfortunate. You dont grow into the racing feel, neither do you feel progress, constantly hopping into different cars doesnt allow you to get good at anything, old GT Titles were better in that regard for entertainment.
However it does exactly what it is supposed to do, no fiddling around if you dont want to, find a race and go enjoy it.
I do also hope that AC Evo will have a proper career, i dont want to entertain myself, i want to be entertained by the game. I dont need a big sandbox, tenthousand settings for a car, tuning or mods, or constantly choose a racetrack and setup everything before even beeing able to play.
I want to purchase a game that entertains me, very simple.
Even tho GT7 does not have a career mode, the driving is damn fun and for me it currently is the best racing game and after that theres a big mile of pure emptiness before Dirt Rally 2.0 comes after, then EA Sports WRC (which is broken) and after that there is nothing enjoyable to me.
I dont like the original Assetto Corsa, it is too much work before playing, same with ACC.
Its a developers sandbox, nothing a casual racer is able to enjoy.
I tried modding once and dropped the entire game because it ended up beeing a job, while i actually wanted to play a videogame.
I feel like those 2 games didnt get it right for a big mainstream success, majority of players dont want to be car engineers, they wanna be drivers and everything outside of that doesnt matter, may chosing a different set of tires, changing ABS, Tractioncontrol, ESP or brakebalance is totaly fine but that is absolutly it, finetuning a car is also fine but it shouldnt be required at all.
Thats also an issue i do suffer from, i just wanna jump into a car and see if it is enjoyable for me and if it fits my driving style, if it doesnt i hop into the next one asap.
I dont want to tune a car AT ALL, if it drives horrible its a trash car from the factory and ill just get away from it.
Its just like in real life, i dont buy cars that feel like Volkswagen Cars with zero feeling at the steering wheel, its awful and it isnt fun. I like cars that behave dirty but are very well controllable at the same time, that reflects into video games aswell.
So i usually end up driving older cars, because they teach you respect right away, the new ones you just feel like you can watch some yt on your phone, too much safety and lack of respect for them.
And all of these points, except the lack of a proper career mode are only to be found in Gran Turismo 7. On top of that the amount of detail the game does ship with, no other is competing with the professional quality as a complete package by even the slightest amount with their products.
In GT7 it doesnt matter if i use my Dualsense Controller and have a relaxed game or my Fanatec DD Pro, both are fun, the directdrive just beeing even more fun.
Meanwhile i tried ACC with a controller just 2 days ago in VR, just looking at the steering wheel when i use my thumbstick for steering, jeez, it looks trash in such a big way, that i dont wanna play it anymore.
Those are the details GT7 does have, on a controller steering is smoothed out, even the visual aspect is great. In other games theres no proper use for controller, because when you steer as much as ACC in example does it, you would straight up start a spin or drift and if you do not, then the complete immersion is ruined and lowend quality.
Btw. GT7 isnt a arcade or simcade, it is an extremly accurate reflection of Reallife, especially since 1.49 update. The trash cars that suck in reallife do also suck in GT7 and vice versa.
That's really too bad GT7 doesn't have a good career mode. You'd think they would have learned something from the previous GT titles. I'm sure it's still leagues better than what's in AC & ACC.
When I first played AC, I was really let down by how old it felt. Everyone raves about it, saying how amazing it is, but I felt like I was missing something. So then I downloaded Content Manager, installed Sol, and all that stuff. Maybe I'm missing something but I still didn't see THAT much of an improvement. Even then, the amount of settings you can adjust in CM is quite overwhelming. And I have no idea what mods are good or not. There isn't any quality control. In my humble opinion, I kinda hope that AC Evo doesn't have mods. I know a ton of people will say I'm crazy, but it just seems to muddy the waters.
And yeah all this stuff about AC Evo being a simulation... I mean absolutely, it should be a simulation. But at the end of the day, it's still a video game. It needs to have depth, it needs to be fun, and it should make you want to come back and play more. I think a career mode and/or some sort of progression system helps with that.
I also very much like leaderboards. I think they're a great way to keep people engaged, and want to come back for more. I really enjoy the Rivals mode in Forza Motorsport. It's fun to post your time and to see how you stack up against other drivers. ACC kinda has this too with their Special Events. But the leaderboards there are pretty barebones. It would be nice if AC Evo has something similar, but more fleshed out.
As far as playing ACC on a controller, I haven't tried, but I can't imagine it's that great. It's definitely geared for people with wheel/pedals. And I will say that ACC feels way more realistic on wheel and pedal compared to AC. AC has some weird FFB. And that's another thing, maybe mine wasn't dialed in properly? But I didn't have to do much in ACC to dial in my FFB, which was really nice. If AC Evo can match the FFB that's in ACC... "chef's kiss".
so it's ♥♥♥♥, like ac had that too, developing driver bs... complete garbage. So it's just another track lap game. Great
They actually say this:
"To continue with the content of the game, one should not expect the introduction of a career mode strictly speaking in Assetto Corsa Evo. On the other hand, the player's development as a driver should be done through a system of gaining experience and reputation. It will be about « build a lifestyle and reputation as a car enthusiast, but also develop your driving skills, racing experience, car collection, etc. » A sentence distilled by the co-founder particularly catches our attention: « It will all depend on how you want to EVOluer, and much more ». "

So it seems that it is not a typical career mode but something more like an experience.
What it means is that you'll do track lap and get xp for your player. Wow. Amazing... Removing from wishlist. 10 trillion other racing game already that do the same thing.
