the wolves are pretty laughable, i just take the pistol, shoot one of em in the head and the rest will flee ... big THREAT LOL .... i never needed any of those blue sticks. Walking on the ice, you have caves to warm up....walking on the road you will find little houses to warm up.
...it's really just the beginning which is kinda tough.
Guess it wasn't excess stuff then.
Great story tho (Ep. 3 I mean).
...that said, the earlier episodes had more of a 'mystical' feeling, with that bear, that speer. the 3rd one, was more of a pick&carry story. Kind of boring, but that's just my 2cents.
Some examples with spoiler alert:
1. Dragging away the victims is too easy as it has no serious weight penalty and energy depletion is minimal.
2. Because of only 1 map for the story, you can stop underway at easy spots and there are even more caves than usual on other maps, so once the victim gets cold, you just stop for a while until you can continue.
3. Food was aplenty, the plane food made it way too easy and did not even need to kill animals to provide for the stash, did not kill a single rabbit, needed no hides, etc.
4. Weather was only stormy occasionally, there were enough clothes not to have to craft anything. It did not feel like a survival experience.
5. The wolves are a bit bugged: even when you shoot them (torso, head, does not matter), they mostly don't die and even when hit, some just keep coming, not to speak of being bit by invisible wolves through shed walls.. However, even when they are in packs, they just bite at you a bit until you can scare them off. I did run almost out of ammo in the end, but did not really need more.
6. Played through in 2 sessions, basically with 1 or 2 deaths when I forgot to bring matches to the plane (assuming the bonfires can light a torch, well no logic there), most of the time I could watch my other monitor as there was no challenge, just a walking simulator.
If you forego the eternal flame, force yourself to hunt, keep the well fed bonus up, and even to do some camping instead of staying indoors - it can give you more of a satisfying challenge.
