I stopped for a while because of that too in my early play.
I haven't really.
I mean try it! Get yourself a backpack, fill it with stuff 15lb or 30kg and try walking around for a while. Go for a walk. A hike maybe. Do that for two days in a row, maybe three. Remember to only eat once a day and keep it to granola bars only. Drink as little as possible and do it while it's really fraking cold outside. Let's see how fast you can actually RUN after that. At this point the character in the the game seems too fast.
Realism aside, the days are compressed, maps are also smaller than life, so the needs/encumberance/speed are balanced around that.
Appreciate the responses.
Let us cobble together a wood sled for equipment then, or some type of work-around would be nice. We could always abandon the sled/cargo under duress? I would love to explore more of the map(s), but regardless of explanation, the time it takes is too long for those of us who do not have as much disposable time.
I purchased the game in alpha and have over 200 hours, I love this game, but cannot justify the excess time to travel in this game. Sorry I am not as hardcore as i used to be, i guess. Again, very appreciative of the responses.
(ps. lived in nothern AB and now on a 100-acre farm, i understand the reality of carrying a load etc, but on the farm, we can throw a sled together or use equipment. The firearms physics could use some TLC, if you want more realism. I can hit a fly at 100 yards in real life and in TLD, barely hit the side of a barn as it 'charges' me, lol. Entertaining.)
