Ptarmigans?

Has anyone found any Ptarmigans yet? The update video says they are added to most regions and generally found in higher areas. Just wondering if there are specific locations where they are found.

I also notice the Ptarmigan doesn't show up in the Custom game options regarding wildlife spawn chance. Is this something that will updated in the future?

I have found them twice in Mystery Lake on accident. Almost walked up on them the first time.

If you hear a kind of chittering noise there are probably some nearby. I heard that before I found them the second time.

Also the nests show up on the when drawing with charcoal

Found some in Echo Ravine on Timberwolf Mtn. - where it opens up just south of the entrance to Ash Canyon.

As Shadowhawk says, you'll probably hear them before you see them - the noise they make is quite distinctive.

Found a flock by camp office but then i killed one scaring the others away and they aint been back since, good tip about the charcoal uncovering their nests.

I've found some near the pinic area/camp grounds on Mountain Town, about a flock of five spawned in.

What did you use to kill the bird? Might make a difference as to their hanging around or not .

So yeah I think we're expected to use something other than a gun.

Wonder if stones only stun (like rabbits)? Which wouldn't make sense because then you'd have to run in and kill it, startling the other birds.

I found four of them and killed them all with a bow in Hushed River Valley region, firehardened arrows, never tried the stone yet, but 28(or 21? I think its with the knife) minutes to harvest them is pretty crazy.

Found a couple flocks on Timberwolf Mtn. The issue is if you kill one the others bolt as they are grouped tightly together. And unlike the rabbits don't come hopping back. Although they may come back shortly after? Haven't hung out in those spots long enough to say.

Edit: I see I should have been using fire hardened arrows instead of stones.

I'm currently in PV and haven't seen any yet, although given the size of PV I'm not too surprised.

So stones do kill (not just stun)? But startle the rest anyway. OK thanks.

Found two flocks near Monolith lake (Hushed river valley), I scared am away when saw them first in mystery lake but then started using fire hardened arrows

The first time when I scared them away I threw a rock but now im using arrows unless they are right next to each other I managed to get 2 out of 4 from one flock so far.
