I never wear my hand-crafted clothing - too heavy.
Maybe this is a thing that changes with higher difficulties, but on Voyager difficulty it makes me sad to see my Wolfskin Coat, Rabbitskin Mittens, Leather Gauntlets and Deerskin Boots just sitting on my shelves at home because they're so damn heavy that I never wear them.

By the time you put on all the hand-made gear you're already so heavy you have to strip your inventory of so much else, and limit your scavenging activities so much, it's ridiculous.

There are always ways to warm up if you're freezing (because you're under-dressed) but juggling inventory items to keep your weight down is a constant, all-or-nothing struggle if you choose to wear that stuff.

I understand that there has to be a trade-off re: weight vs. warmth and don't really have any suggestions on how to improve the situation, I just wish I could bring myself to wear the stuff I spent so much time and energy creating. Every time I see them I feel like I should be wearing them, but just can't due to how much weight they add. :steamsad:

The crafted clothes give a good protection, have a high percentage of being waterproof/ windproof and the Wolfcoat also has a small chance to scare off wolves. The downside of them is that the mobility is limited.

You use those clothes when you go out hunting, or might get stuck outside. Not for gear or looting runs.

I could see using them for hunting runs but at the same time you're going to be coming back from that run with loads of meat, skins and guts. I go out hunting as light as possible to allow for all the stuff I'm (hopefully) going to be carrying back.

The "could scare a wolf away" bonus is a reason to wear the coat that I had forgotten, thanks for reminding me.
The weather can change pretty fast while skinning a deer or even a bear. Having heavy clothing can be usefull but i also see the advantages of going out as light as possible. I'm a bit lazy with micromanaging, so i usually stick to my basic set of clothes.

Well for me, The rabbitskin mittens are pretty good! They're like +5 at 100% condition. and they're about only 1 pound (1ish k) The deerskin boots are pretty similar to the insulated boots, however I think deerskin is better, it has more protection, water proof, Deerskin pants aren't woth imo. just wear some snow pants. The bearskin coat is a big "NO!" Imo. It weighs 11 pounds (5 and a halfish k?) Wolfskin coat is kinda worth imo. since I've 100% run out of flares on my voyuager run (yeah ik... 200+ days in-game and RUN OUT COMPLETELY OF FLARES!) so I use the wolf for the 'chance' to scare away wolves.

I'm trying to decide if the crafted clothing is a good deal or not. I just got back from FM. Went in with crafted clothing since I wanted to try once again (3 failed stalker attempts) and didn't find top of the line clothing in ML, CH or DP. The stuff is a bit on the heavy side but seems to degrade at a slower rate that it did before the last update. Stayed there 15 plus days, had several wolf struggles and the condition had only drop around 5 to 7%. I didn't have rabbit mits and was using the leather gauntlet. Those will be my next project and will see how it goes. Also, I had more wolves run from me that normal. Don't know if that part has been adjusted or the RNG just gave me a good roll.

Really? Does the % of damage go up the longer you're alive? cause when I get in a wolf struggle it goes down like 15% condition.

The amount of damage to clothing seems to depend on the material/toughness (e.g. Leather Gauntlets will take less damage than Wool Mittens) but it's also kinda random and kinda depends on how well you do in the fight.

I've fought wolves while at full health and stamina (and not overburdened) and got the notification about Torn Clothing afterwards - I think that indicates that you did well in the fight (you didn't get injured, only your clothes did), but then I've fought wolves while tired and overburdened and my clothes didn't get damaged at all but I got a sprained wrist and lacerations.

So if your clothing is taking a lot of damage but your body isn't, I think that means you did well in the fight. If both your clothing and your body get damaged, you did not do as well. If your body gets damaged but your clothes did not, I think that's just the randomness factor kicking in.

I'm on a 252 day run. Those clothes are the only clothes I have now. I regret not repairing more clothes instead of ripping them up. I looted every map before settling at TWM.
