Original Resident Evil 1996 PC Modding But Will Not Start !!!!

Hi there please forgive me i know this is in the wrong section but i rearly want to know how to fix this issue i plan on modding the original game like i used to on windows 7 64bit

But the game will not start i managed to get it to install and changed compatibility to windows 95 on all the EXE files but still the game will not start i ripped the CD ROM to my computer using IMGBurn to save time loading i remember fixing this issue in windows 7 but i cannot remember for the life of me how i did it i changed various graphics plugins no vail the game runs at native
640x480 i get the black screen then back to the desktop i tried lowering my screen resolution to 640x480 but unfortunatly my graphics card will not go any lower the 1024x678 well in the desktop properties anyway i wanted to do some original modding i succeded in changing the music in some rooms and edited the dialogue but i wanted to learn more enemy movements and such i tried the european patch but same error if anyone has had any luck getting this game working please let me know there are some fantastic guides out there so i can learn some more awesome things the game wont start in its vannila state so no files are modified up to this point :-D

mmm ill give it a try at some point I have a pirate copy of this one.. (i had it running on vista a few years ago but it was running on compatibility mode etc..

i know there is a microsoft application that can help run this i forgot the name?

I would love it if Capcom Released the Sega Saturn mixed with Directors cut of this game.. that would be neat!

Thanks mate if i remember correctly the sega version had an exclusive battle mode and 2nd tyrant fight and maybe a few costumes i would love to do some work on this game again but getting the game working is a task on its own i will disable duel monitor and see if anything changes :)

Disabling Duel Monitor had no effect :-S

but otherwise

run the install (Setup.exe) in win 95 compatibility mode and disable visual themes and disable display scaling on high DPI settings and also Run this game in 640 x 480 Resolution

when you install the game select the top option of the graphics cards (i am using nvidia tho in general).

and then select the "RESIDENTEVIL.EXE" in the same method. win 95 disable visual themse and DPI settings. and also run this game in 640 x 480 resolution

Remember back then 14 inches of CRT Monitors were the ♥♥♥♥ if you had 17 inches you were rich. but that was also more popular later on.. anyway games back then ran at that res on those standard CRT Monitors.


the only sad part is that the game runs extremly opisite to this remake

ultra fast.

also i dont know what the keys are except enter is action and F9 if you hold it resets and exits your game :P

because i found out a year ago, already have the name resident evil 1,2,3 hd classic rebirth patch taken from version the biohazard.
and even improved the quality graphics of parts 2 and 3, and part 1 does not all look like high-quality graphics in the game.

better use windows 10, because windows 11 is a bad system, there are a lot of things confused, including some games that won't load clearly old and middle years!

W11 is fine its the literally same thing as W10 aparet from security updates and ill say slightly crappier UI



All my games loads on Windows 11 Pro

Except some of these older ones without virtualbox or so. for obvious reasons

the fact that you are using a virtual box will also not work on the new os windows 10 and 11 and also lower version 7 and 8.
honest, i have not used virtual box in it for a long time.
i tried some virtual box myself, so it didn't work correctly, regret.
and i do not even know how to work properly. this is only possible for early versions of the game.

you need to at least install not os windows 11 pro, but os windows 11 enterprise, this is good, and os windows 11 pro is a weak design, including all sorts of data there, can not work well.
i myself used it earlier on os windows 10 pro, there was a very big problem as well on too 11.

The kernels in W11 Pro and the Enterprise is the same

you just have different security features and networking features

Doe snot affect running old DX or open GL games

mostly used virtual box on games like Tomb Raider pre configured via steam
