Black Screen After CAPCOM Logo (Kubuntu 19.10)
Im trying to run Resident Evil / Biohazard HD Remake
I get the CAPCOM logo screen but then its black
the game doesnt open full screen (windowed)
I have proton 5.0
I've verified local files
I can run other windows games on linux through steam (ie: Brawhalla)

How can I get past the black screen? && is it normal to start in windowed mode and not full screen?

Operating System: Kubuntu 19.10
KDE Plasma Version: 5.16.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.62.0
Qt Version: 5.12.4
Kernel Version: 5.3.0-40-generic
OS Type: 64-bit
Processors: 8 × AMD FX(tm)-8300 Eight-Core Processor
Memory: 11,7 GiB of RAM
VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GP107 [GeForce GTX 1050 Ti] (Connected Via HDMI)

p.s. - I already posted on the pinned "Resident Evil HD Remaster Bug Reporting Thread". However, seeing as its such an old thread I didn't think anyone would reply to it, so I made a new thread.

EDIT : I got the "Albert Wesker" item in my steam library while at black screen

Did you go through the game's Proton page and try the tricks listed there?

Interesting. It should be a codec or a dependency library issue only. Are your GPU drivers okay under Linux? HDMI in itself should not be an issue.

Yesterday I found this game would not run on Proton easily too. But the instructions are actually simple enough to go about, just follow the instructions from the first report you see on the protondb page for this game. For me tho I had to change the proton version for this game from 5.0.3 to 3.16 (otherwise it crashes on fullscreen) and use the launch option PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 %command% after installing the missing codecs. Took me 5 minutes to do, after that it was all good.
