Metal object - Game breaking bug or my error?

Hey,

I'm playing through RE1 HD for the first time and although I like the more action approach of the newer games, I really enjoy most of the game.

HOWEVER, I can't proceed any more. I got the stone and metal object so I thought I could use that and the metal object to open the crypt door in the main hall.

I then learnt that you first have to combine the metal object with stone ring you find at Lisa Trevor's cabin (didn't get that, damn).

So I wanted to place the metal object again to gain access to that area of the game again.

BUT now, when I want to place the metal object in its old place the game insists: CANT USE THAT ITEM now. Thus I can't even get to Lisa Trevor's cabin.

Please tell me I'm doing something wrong and I don't have to load an old save game.

That should not happen. You only get that message if you got all key items past that door. Did you get the small jewellery box from Lisa's underground bedroom, the one under her cabin? The stone ring is in it, you can just open it.

Thanks. No, I didn't get the stone ring yet. I didn't even discover the underground room.

I placed myself in several ways to place the object that doesn't help. Also that didn't happen at all the first time I placed it.

Just when I thought I get good at playing oldschool RE (I played throught RE3 as a teeen though) I just discover how much I actually suck at it :D

Are you using the "metal object" or the "stone and metal object"? The second one should work.

Thanks, I got it now. I tried both the objects, but I think I really stood in a way I couldn't use it. I was able to proceed and happily finish the game :)
