Very common in the middle east, would look great!
if the amo is apds o apfds (sabot), the plastick parts that separeta after exit the cannon hit the graund and put more dust.
Not to mention that the amo has a tracer, and the heat on the barrel, or the radar for ammo detection (the morters wont get movile for sport).
OK, some feedback on the AI.
I'm beating the AI about 3/4 of the time playing as USA on hard. Generally, the AI does a good job of attacking in force and keeping mobile to find the vulnerable points. It defends reasonably well, but sometimes tends to abandon a hard won point to pursue another one. Where it is weak is responding to being flanked and executing flanking maneuvers. I have seen the AI try to flank once.
The AI as GRM seems to do much better on congested maps than open ones, consistent with the strengths of the GRM faction.
Regarding vehicles, the AI uses them liberally, but tends to drive them into congested points and then just parks, leaving them vulnerable to flanking attacks. The AI doesn't support vehicles well with infantry and generally brings them (vehicles) too close to enemy infantry, instead of staying at range and keeping mobile. In the most recent update, I think the AI is supporting vehicles better with infantry, but it is probably to soon to conclude anything.
In summary, the AI is passable, even decent, but doesn't use vehicles well and doesn't seem able to conduct flanking maneuvers. Hope this is helpful to the developers.

The smoke launchers on vehicles need to work.
Could be used to show that a dirty bomb got exploded there or radioactive waste, I think this would be a neat feature to have in some maps MP and SP.
I think they shouldn't explode either, but in terms of gameplay, armored cars should not be killed from a simple frag grenade.
