Question on Modding
Ok so I was trying to modify the race pick costs using the RacePerk.YAML file that is in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Master of Orion\Modding folder. After I modified it I created a folder in the \Documents\Master of Orion\Mods folder and then placed the modified RacePerks.YAML file in there. I then started the game and made sure that the folder was selected in the Mods tab in the game and started a new game.

None of my changes are showing up. I have double checked to make sure the formatting was correct and it matches the formatting used in the rest of the file. Do you have to create subfolders for the different *.YAML files that are in the Modding folder or are you supposed to simply modify those files and then place them into the \Documents\Master of Orion\Mods folder?

Based on your description, it sounds like you're doing everything right, but without seeing your actual yaml file it's hard to know. Can you post it here?

Is there a way I can send you the files I made so you can look them over?
You can message me your email if that will work for you.

Oh just so you know, I used your modding guide to do the edits. That was a pretty awesome guide...of course if it turns out I screwed this up then I will need to reread it again..lol

Spud: What does your 5x Mod do again, and where can I find it?
Spud Dastardly Feb 2, 2017 @ 6:16pm
My 5X mod does quite a lot. More than I can describe in a forum post. It rebalances races, significantly expands the tech tree with new techs, gives more custom race pick choices, rebalances some diplomacy things, adds more starting ages, makes anomalies more interesting, improves AI ship blueprints, makes the tactical combat battlefield twice as large, rebalances pollution, lets you terraform volcanic planets, and much more. I'm still working on full documentation for all of the changes. You can get it here:

I enjoy your mod. Thanks!

Spud Dastardly...I have sent the files to your email. Please let me know if or what I messed up in the formatting.

Spud: One last question. I have the mod that reduces the OP nature of MIRVed missiles; any conflict there? And if I want to remove a mod and revert back to vanilla game, is it possible to do so, and if so, how?

Spud's Mod is great frdnwsm. Don't run the Mirv debug but I run a Fighter Mod and the Corvette Mod with no compatability issues

I've been using it for so long now as default that I've kinda forgotten original tech tree :steamhappy:

Word of warning though....going up against Warp Defence Points and Planets can be a very daunting task. No longer can 1 Cruiser just sit and torpedo the crap out of your warp point in like 20 seconds flat. Expect losses.
And a Space Fortress/Advanced Missile Base/Advanced Orbital Batteries? Better bring a lot of Titans as they will eat Battleships for lunch and want more :steammocking:

I'm not sure which mod you're referring to frdnwsm, but 5X includes a change to MIRV that allows the missiles to be shot down by PD weapons before they split, which makes them way less OP.

Thanks seabo_76 :steamhappy:

Yeah; you had a separate mod for that as a stand alone, which I grabbed. Sounds like it's incorporated into your 5x mod as well, so there should be no compatibility problems.

Sounds good, but I like options. Can I "unmod" if for some reason I want to do so?
Spud Dastardly Feb 5, 2017 @ 5:13am
Yes, you can turn off mods in the mod menu, or you can unsubscribe from it through steam any time. If your going to use 5X, you should disable the bug fixes mod.
