The regular price is the same at GoG and Steam. Why the grey market prices fluctuate is not really a topic that should be discussed here. Obviously people who buy half-legit goods prefer the steam version. Supply and demand, you know...
At any given point Steam, GoG, or Green Man Gaming can have different prices, just a fact of life. I have, however, learned the hard way that GoG is simply not a reliable option for "living" games (basically, games still actively supported via updates or expansions). Updates are slow to hit their system, and unless stuff has changed recently, updating when it is available, is an awkward affair.

I have never had a problem with GOG, just as I have never had a problem with Steam, but I must admit, I have bought many games from GOG, simply because they are cheaper than Steam, and also because GOG optimizes older games for modern systems a lot better. i.e. Falcon 4.0, this game doesn't even work if you buy from steam 100% confirmed and guaranteed. But GOG put more effort in to make it work.
i bet he now use epic game store
