In short though, yes, you can grind as much as you like. :)
Grinding is not only useful for gaining exp and money, but also unlocking your (non main) character's secret potentials, the process is: you make a hero of him in battle, then the reporter will write some extra lines in their profiles (you have to talk to her). This also unlocks their final profile description if they are alive at the end.
The issue with the game is that there's no sense of "balance" period in the story. One minute you're breezing through the game, next minute you're crying in the corner getting 1 shot by everything. It's a bipolar wave of difficulty.
true, but when you "restart" you already know what the enemy "will do" so its super easy afterwards to "counter- the counter" so to say...
You might just be bad at adapting. I know for a fact that bosses hit hard as hell and usually the solution is to direct all your attacks to them or figure out the scenario solution akin to how you would play a puzzle game.
