RimWorld

RimWorld

Achievements
I just wanna see everyone's input for putting achievements in Rimworld?
Personally I'd think it'd be a decent thing to add to the game, gives even more incentive for new players to try! (That's just me I love getting achievements)

In my opinion: A waste of developer resources that can be better spent elsewhere.
How so? I'm genuinely curious.

EDIT: I have little knowledge if achievements are difficult to implement development wise so I'd like to hear your point of view.

I have never cared about achievements and truly don't see the appeal. If you want them bad enough there is an achievement mod for you to play with.

Achievements would be fun and most other answers will be from people coping because the devs don't want to add them

Just get the mod and call it a day

If you need achievements to play a game, something is just wrong with you.
If I had a nickle each time I heard this, I could probably buy the game again.
Rimworld is Rimworld by grace of Mods
Mods are incompatible with achievements.
Ergo, achievements are incompatible with Rimworld.

Never said I needed achievements just wanted the communities input on it, and I tend to agree with the majority of comments here.

Try the 'Geneva checklist' mod, you can achieve things in that

Yeah. Followed by: this game is too expensive and needs more sales.

There are multiple downsides to achievements, from making players feel "forced" to play a specific way to "complete" a game, to being used as fuel for toxicity with people "achievement shaming" each other on the forums. If it's something you get automatically while playing however you want, then what is the point? If it's something you need to go out of your way and play abnormally for, for some that is frustrating and unwanted, though I understand for others that adds replayability. RimWorld has enough replayability though, extra goals aren't necessary. Mods are there for you though, if that extra guidance is something you want.

Personally I don't care either way, steam achievements are just something I typically ignore. If I get them naturally while playing, cool, if not I don't really care. The only time I do care, are for like Paradox games where all achievements require playing unmodded on ironman with cloud saves enabled, I'd rather have no achievements than to have a system I feel "locked out" of.
don't care, use mod if you really want achievment, ludeon state they won't do it
