Mods And Black Screen

I've been trying to make my modlist run for more than a month now and I'm about to lose my mind. I see people complaining about this under mod pages like hugslib or rocketman. Yet I can't find ANY mod author nor ludeon addressing the issue. 230+ items modlist>Ok, don't expect it to be stable anyways. Run the game and it won't load. Remove half mods and try again. Loads. Quit game, open again without changing anything. Boom doesn't load this time for some reason. How am I supposed to debug this sht? Remove another half of mods, now it loads like %25 of the time, but it doesn't matter because even though the game loaded without black screen, I can see some stuff didn't load correctly. Worldgen&mapgen issues, mod options are broken for half of the mods, duplicate stacktrace / ingameUIoverlayshitexception / othererrors spamming in logs like crazy. Verifying files won't work, reinstall won't work. Windows compatibility troubleshooting won't work. Literally only thing I haven't tried yet is clean windows install and if I have to do that I'm giving up anyways. Anybody has knowledge about this or a possible solution other than "just play vanilla"?

Unless someone identifies the exact combination of mods that cause the issue, neither Ludeon nor any mod authors can address the issue. Which is why you don't see any of them doing so.

Learn how the game and mods work and interact with each other, and only add a few mods at most at a time so you can debug issues as they happen.

Appreciate your answers but common debugging actions don't seem to be helpful with this issue. Error logs are not consistent. It's not a single mod or a combination either. Mods sometimes load correctly, sometimes don't. Impossible to reproduce. Some mods load better than others. VE mods, Rocketman, Hugslib, Prepatcher or xmlx and a few others are more problematic compared to simple retextures. You add just 1 mod, loads, quit and try again, won't load. It's not the order, it's not the combination. It's something else. I posted this as a last hope of maybe someone found the cause of the issue and all I had to do was change some random ahh regedit value from 1 to 0 or something.

I'm having issues with Black Screen at Launch as well and indeed is super random. I solved the issue by moving RimWorld to the same drive as Steam, and it solved for days... just to start happening again out of nowhere. And it happens with all different combination of mods and when is not a Black Screen, it's the Debug Window.

Also, some people have this issue and others don't. Some people said they fixed by changing resolutions, others by adding and activating a couple of mods at the time.

It's definitely some change with 1.5 or maybe an issue with Unity, because don't make any sense whatsoever.

as long as you dont get it in vanilla its a mod problem and if its not one then its a mod combination problem
especaly if you have problems with the debug window its a mod
you just have to find out wich combination of mods its causing it

I just figured out the issue on my end was the Harmony mod. I disabled it and enabled Prepatcher, that they say can be used instead, and now all the black screens and debug windows were gone, with no more logs flooded with errors.

Exactly the same problem,research for a month and I gave up.I can only play rimworld when i back the version to 1.4 with hundreds of mods

maybe there is a cpu compatibility issues after the update

If you guys still have the game installed, try something: copy the game folder from "steamapps\common" and paste it in the root of C.

You should end up with "C:\RimWorld". Just copy and paste, don't move/cut. Keep everything else as is, all the mods installed, Steam open and etc. Then launch the game from "C:\RimWorld\RimWorldWin64.exe"

See if the Black Screen still happens and share the results here, please.

it still does the black screen o death but I noticed that when i chose a handful of mods to run that weren't connected with the vanilla expanded series the game ran fine. I did get this though.

Here I don't have any problems with the VE series. I played on Windows 10 for almost two weeks without any black screen. I'm only facing issues on Windows 11 and with performance mods. During my testes I movde the main game folder to the root, outside the Steam folder, and this seem to solve everything but I'm still running tests.

I still think the issue is related to the VE series but i'll try it again. I'm gonna reinstall the VE framework,some car mods and other random ones and I'll let you know if it crashes or not.

Give RimSort a try. Just be sure to download the latest version available.

Here I use it to order the mods, with both Community and Steam Databases and Topological ordering. I also use the Texture Optmizer. It solved A LOT of issue I was having.
