Disable Raid Drops Inside Base
Is there a way to disable them dropping right in top of you? The last raid i had went right through "stable mountain overhead roof" and wiped everyone out. Doesnt make much sense.

I may be mistaken, but I think that when you start a game you can use the scenario editor to enable/disable raids by type. I may be wrong though.

Another option is to use a mod that lets you enable/disable them even mid playthrough. One such mod is this one:

Pretty sure you can disable that in the scenario editor when making a run. You probably had even a single tile of rock roof instead of mountain they all dropped in and ballooned out like a clown car. Don't think I've ever managed a mountain base without a few roof weak spots. Of course by killed everyone you may mean crashed into the mountain and killed everyone when the roof caved in and crushed people.

Shouldn't be possible unless you have mods breaking things, or as MadArtillery mentioned it wasn't actually all overhead mountain. Fill in any thin rock roof tiles with walls, mountain bases are impervious to drop pod raids which is why infestations exist to fill that role.

Center drop raids are also generally tiny so that you can easily deal with them without your defenses. They are only about 30% the size of a normal raid at around mid game. Pause the game when you get the alert draft your colonists up, see where they are landing based on the shadows if possible or move all your colonists toward a specific point. Once the pods land you have several seconds to get in position around them, then it's like shooting fish in a barrel as the tiny squad of enemies is slaughtered with nowhere to run. The main risk of such raids are damage to furniture.

You can get high shields to prevent mortar damage. There is also a mod (or was) that allows you to have shield that prevent drop ins. Burns power like hell, but a couple of nuclear reactors are cheap to build endgame.
Not sure if it's still active as I don't run it now and don't remember the name.

With the https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1127530465 mod there is a laser that you can use to disperse the pods (it can also shoot down artillery shells) greatly limiting them from landing in mass, they get spread out toward the edges instead.

I believe that's RimAtomics. I don't know if it's been updated for 1.5 since I'm still on 1.4 until my colony's story concludes, but it's a bit tedious to unlock that tech. It uses its own research table which requires a mix of research and paying silver to unlock research trees. But it's the ATOM upgrade for the TACS that does it.

I don't think its Rimatomics, but I honestly can't remember and removed the mod from my game's list long ago, I guess.
I can remember exactly what they looked like, but not their names or the mod. I do remember it took me ages to implement due to research, cost and power needed.

Were the roof tiles in question actually called "stable mountain overhead roof"? The vanilla name should be just 'Overhead mountain'. If the name is different, it could be a different roof added by a mod that may not behave exactly the same.

So i looked into this and it seems, they werent "dropping from above" but coming from underneath. The raid notification stated dropping in from above so thats where the confusion was from.

That's not a vanilla raid type. Unless you mean they walked in from the map edge which was under mountain roof, which can definitely happen. It sounds like you have a mod adding a new raid type though and the mod isn't changing the notification correctly.
