RimWorld

RimWorld

Undraft or select all drafted?
Is there any quick way in-game to select all drafted pawns at once? Or a quick way to just undraft all drafted pawns?

Right now, what I do is shift-click each drafted pawn using the pawn display at the top of the UI, but that's more tedious than I would like. I've played several thousand hours of Rimworld, so I'm going to laugh at myself if there is an easier way.

I'm open to a mod solution if the vanilla game itself doesn't have a way to do this, if anyone knows of any mod that can do it, either via hotkey or buttons.

I don't think so

But usually when you draft pawns they end up being in the same place, so you can click and drag to select them

If you just want to undraft them but don't know which ones are drafted or not, just select all your pawns, draft them all and undraft them all

This resets things like healing or eating

Yeah true but do I care about that one eating pawn losing a couple of seconds if it allows me to auto-undraft everyone I need to undraft ? Not really

So, if I want to - say - move all my drafted pawns, I just band select the whole colony, and issue a move order - the undrafted just ignore it.

If I want to undraft everyone currently drafted, I band select the whole colony, then draft everyone, then undraft everyone. There is almost no downside to this, and what little downside there is, is much less than the downside of trying to undraft one by one.

It also stops any and all other work-in-progress.

If I have a doctor in the middle of treating patients over in the hospital, for example, I dam well do care about stopping him in the middle of it.

That's just a single example, but in a larger colony I pretty much always have more than one thing going on at a time. Drafting everyone then undrafting is not an acceptable solution for me. That is the main reason I made this thread (I was aware of that as an option, I just don't like the option.)

If you have a doctor healing a critically injured pawn, you probably want to be micromanaging that instead of being focused on macro-ing your drafted pawns anyway. (and you can still draft everyone but him)

And it's obviously an extremely niche case, 99,99% of the time no one's gonna die because you drafted your colony.

But yeah I guess you need a mod

Shift left click drag your cursor over the top of the screen of their colonist images , this will select all pawns you drag over.

This will select them all at once faster than shift clicking each one.

This is the only in game vanilla way to select every colonist without tedious single click drafting.

If you shift right click drag your colonists pictures you can also move them around as you want organize them for quick group drafting this way

However I understand youre likely looking for a control grouping function, which would be a great QOL mechanism in a game that requires such micromanaging skills.

Right click to sort your pawns by warriors and workers. Keep doctors in a bunch too. Then you don't need to inefficiently draft/undraft.

EDIT: definitely wouldn't want to undo work like operations or tree tending. Haven't tested Gene extraction but probably that too.

If you left click and drag over their portraits at the top, that will also select the pawn. This is the easiest way to select various pawns scattered around the map.
