Slight Mod Idea: Continents
Just throwing it out there! had the thought because of all the VFE Vehicle mods that it would be nice to have the world generate with different smaller continents depending on map size :D

I'm fairly sure it's just random. I always play on 30% maps. There's a huge chance it's a singular continent like >95% of the time but you can get lucky and have it be multiple continents. The algorithm to break up land masses probably has more space to work with when you use a larger world map causing it to break up land masses more often once they reach a certain threshold but it's certainly possible with 30% world maps too.

a map i just generated with multiple continents is map seed 'general'. It has two continents. One large western continent and one about a third of the size to the east.

'tynan' and 'detached' map seeds are pretty close to breaking off into two continents only being held together by a small isthmus

'township' is a continent wrapped around an inland sea.

I generated about 20 to 30 maps to find one with multiple continents and these were some interesting finds in the process.

'evening gown' is the map seed of one of my playthroughs and it looks like two giant continents but there's actually a tiny isthmus connecting them both. It's a really cool map if anyone is looking for something interesting.

'sword' is another interesting map that has two continents and has a lot of smaller islands as well.

Sometimes the game already generates different continents, it depends on the map seed really.

I had a really interesting map once where the world was divided into 3 relatively equal but separate continents. Sometimes you get a really big sea in the middle too if your lucky for that Mediterranean feeling.

I for one wish there were more archipelagos and small islands. I usually try to find one with just 1-3 other neutral settlements for that island getaway scenario but it's exceedingly rare; the few candidate islands usually turn out to have only hostile settlements, significant proximity issues, or pollution.

I havent played in a while but usually writing complex seeds tend to make my words into a more chaotic place, usually a large landmass and many island there and in between.
I think that Tynan doesnt want to make Island a standard thing because there's no vanilla way that a caravan can move between continents unless is via droppods and temporal camps, granted there's no much motivation to move that far but it may limit the way how you can move.

That sounds so cool dawgg I'd love to have a world like that or even an all island world maybe but i just mostly get two what would be continents smashed together loll

thank you for clarifying i didnt know it worked like that lol but that is a bit disheartening cause i play on smaller worlds so my game doesn't go all wonky but i'll have to try that! thank you so much

Ahhhh thank youuu!! I'm gonna try each and everyone of these at some point :D these sound like better maps than what i've been generating

That map looks so cool and seasoned with life, might I ask what colony manager you're using with that button on the left of your colonist bar? Not to be nosey I just have the one to change from slave to colonist but that looks like it might be efficient

That makes a lot of sense frr I wish he implemented a mode to distinguish world generation because my colonists can do things like fly loll Ik its not like vanilla friendly maybe but I hope since he tries to make the game more mod compat he does small quality changes like that lol :D

That is the Colony Groups mod. It does a lot of things, but I mostly use it for 2 features.

I can set bills up that can only be performed by certain groups, and I use this to make sure that only my productions specialists make my armor and weapons without having to make a separate bill for each person in that group.

I can force everyone to eat, sleep, and/or recreate before a planned raid hits or before I send out a caravan so that people aren't cranky before leaving the map.

It has a million other things it can do that others might find useful as well.
