Everybody should be using RimSort Mod Manager
It's an alternative to RimPy with much more features to maintain a modlist. The best thing about it is the fact that it update mods by deleting the folder and downloading everything again, which solves the issue of Steam not properly updating things.

It offers an easy way to add and update mods hosted on Git and every mod is marked with an icon that shows the source (Steam, Git and Local). The tool also uses two databases to order the mods, one from Steam and another from the Community, and both are hosted on their repository, so the updates are more constant than the RimPy Database Mod.

I suggest getting the Edge Release[github.com] and then reading the User Guide[github.com] to properly setup things, and finally joining their Discord[discord.gg] if you need more help. :cherrypie::spiffo:

Open-source rimpy, huh? Will have to look at it. I'm potentially concerned about the git updating, since I sometimes mess with mods with git and have to manually reconcile differences between my local copy and the source or rebuild the dll with my local changes.

When you update a Git Mod you have the option to delete and re-download everything or just update the files. Not sure about a way to select which files to update or which files to preserve... join their Discord, I'm sure someone will have more precise info on that.

Except RimPy works perfectly, and easy to use. While RimSort isn't user friendly, there's absolutely no info other than GitHub about it, Shows errors endlessly, and doesn't work.

I've used RimPy for years, works great! I mean go for it but why would i swap if i've never had issues with RimPy?

Had 0 issues with rimpy, works perfectly and has an easy to use UI.

Literally 0 reason to use anything else.

But Rimpy isn't open source. That makes Rimsort better. The same reason everyone ditched windows and moved to Linux years ago.

You're right! God I can't believe people used to use windows all those years ago! It's great now that Linux is the most commonly used OS now!

LOL

According to the most recent steam stats, only 2.3% of their user base is on Linux. 96.2% are on Windows.

I actually do personally use Rimsort to manage my mods, though I do the actual sorting and organizing part manually. But yes, I was being quite sarcastic nonetheless.

Linux is the most commonly used operating system, though. It's just desktop users getting left behind :^)
I use Arch btw

Saying something is "most commonly used" while then discounting the majority of systems is a little disingenuous. That's the opposite of what "most commonly used" means.

Windows dominates both the personal computing and server markets. Linux only dominates public facing webservers and a few other markets. Unless you also count the fact that Androids is Linux-based, in which case it also dominates the mobile phone market.

I personally was on the OS/2 brigade 40 years ago, so I'm no Windows fanboy. Still bitter that it didn't catch on and Windows did back then. But I'm not going to pretend it isn't the most commonly used OS, by a large margin.

Yes, Android is Linux, and even if you reject that the operating system is still open-source (with unfortunate proprietary junk usually added). Traditional computers simply aren't the majority of computers nowadays, and there's even plenty of devices you may not think of as computers (my desk phone, for example) that are, under the hood, just running Linux.

I don't agree with saying Android is Linux though. I do agree with saying it is "Linux based", but that's not quite the same thing. Android is a high level OS that is sitting on top of Linux, not actually Linux.

It doesn't hold a candle to RimPy as far as I'm concerned - and I don't like having a command prompt showing at all times either.

If it's "sitting on top of Linux," then it has to be running Linux. It's not GNU/Linux, it's Android, but both are Linux.
