How do I improve my load time?
Just wondering if there's any new tricks to speed up launching the game with a bunch of mods. Rocketman tells me that the majority of time it takes can't be attributed to any specific mod, in fact the mods add about 50s to my load time, the "not measured" part adds over 150s.

From what I remember this was mostly due to the fact that Rimworld is single-threaded - But the mods addressing that all seem out of date. I'm also using Rimpy and have converted all my textures, but this didn't really do anything.

Happy for tips!

Not measured (mostly) means graphic mods being loaded in. I reckon you got a lot of graphics mods (retextures) installed if its at 150s.

Graphic mods meaning retextures? Or just mods with lots of new items including custom sprites? Or both? :D

Probably both, but retextures are usually the largest contributor since they add so many textures.

For me it was like 2 mods that was helpful
RimPy and Startup Impact. RimPy let you reconfigure your mod list outside of game with sorting func that get the job done, it also let you compress all textures of active mods boosting ending loading speed.

Startup Impact show what loaded longest, so you know what to remove if number was too high.

And not modded solution, rimworld loads faster after successful load with mods changes, if you keep it simple without mod swapping or changing load order you would have that boost

The mod manager will complain if you put this in first position, but it will still work. If you put it after anything, it simply won't trace that mod.

Really wish someone would pick up this mod and develop it. Maybe I will.

Startup Impact doesn't show how long it takes for textures to load in though, that just shows up as 'not related to mods'.

Then you can deduce the impact of textures by enabling/disabling those mods and checking that category. :-)

Sorry for the confusion, I am already using that mod (I just wrongly assumed it was part of Rocketman, haha). It's also one of the first mods to be loaded.

That's 235s out of 352s "not measured", seems a little excessive haha, especially after converting all textures to DDS.

You could try swapping out textures with the original ones and measure again, but I honestly don't think that's a big part of it, especially if they use the same filenames. If a mod is swapping them, then maybe... Perhaps postbin your modlist while we're at it.

Also, make sure it is the very first, even before stuff like Prepatcher and Core.

I poked a few folks on the Subreddit and my 5 minute loading time seems totally "on curve" as it were - They were saying with 500-600 mods they're getting loading times of 15 minutes and up so I guess I have nothing to complain about haha.
I'll check out the mod you've linked, wasn't aware there was a more up-to-date fork available.

I've had 20 to 30 minute load times; once in game though it runs pretty well. But my computer is a little old among other issues.

Trying to be more responsible about modding these days.

Bro 20 to 30 minutes? wtfh

You can start the game, make dinner and eat it all in the same time before it's loaded up :lunar2019deadpanpig:

It's simple - Only ever shut Rimworld down to install more mods!
