Well, if they had 2 bionic arms and 2 bionic legs, they would be better at everything. However, if they have a certain personality trait (Forgot what it is called) they will hate the bionics. Also, performing surgery always has risks of things going wrong (sometimes drastically).

do they like always need to be on Anesthetic all the time or somthing?

The anesthetic is taken care of automatically, but surgeries always have a chance to go bad. Now, a highly skilled doc using glitterworld meds with a med bed and vitals monitor with sterile tiles has a really low chance, but it is still possible.

The storyteller will basically put a target on that colonists head, and they'll be dead three raids later. I had a full bionic pop his head out a doorway during a mech invasion to snipe a centipede on the other side of town shooting at three other colonists, the centipede immediately whipped around and steamrolled the poor guy before going back to the rest of them.

I reloaded to test the result, same thing happened again.

Thats kinda ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ but also in a way makes sense a ultra futuristic robot would target the most intimidating person
To explain the target on their back theory, bionic limbs count as a single part, so when damage is randomized per hit, there are less limbs to take damage. Normally an arm would consist of the hand, arm and fingers. That's 7 pieces, then reduced to 1. 14 to 2. Legs have 5 toes, 1 foot, 1 leg. Again, 2 bionic legs reduce the roll from 14 to 2. Bionic eyes don't have this problem and hand attachments like the powerclaw or scyther claw reduce the number of active limbs in a roll by 5 instead of 7, cause it's just the fingers. Put a full cyborg next to a normal baseline human and fire an assault rifle at them, the cyborg falls first every time. Their basically glass cannons though, if you go bionic arms legs and eyes, you get bonus 40% manipulation and 40% movement speed and 40% bonus sight, improving accuracy. Hand replacements have insane melee DPS, especially the scyther claw which I believe is the only way to get your brawler or melee specialist to their peak in terms of possible damage output. If you choose to make a full cyborg, also consider spending resources protecting it with the best armor you have and possibly a personal shield. To further increase their chances of survival, maybe have them on a drug cycle. Luciferium would be my choice, it improves their all around survivability.

Actually, if you're playing without mods, bionic (except eyes) mostly for crafters, then for yours soliders. But it's more then worth it.

Just firstly install arms&eyes in your best doctor (or two of them) using glitterworld medicine at fully equiped hostpital. Upgraded doctor will almost never fail surgeries and in most cases even when fail - will be able to fastly repair damage before patient will die.

Another thing about that, is, eyes don't add any functional disadvantages in any way shape or form unless say, their a prosthophobe.

But if you have a prostophile they will have a perminant 14 mood buff i believe, which in all honesty can really make them almost unbreakable, add sanguine and iron willed and they could be the most level headed person on the planet.

i gave one of my pawns a couple of bionic kidneys. They increase blood filtration alot. When he gets a disease he's back on his feet in a day.

To be fair, if I saw someone who looked like a terminator as was shooting at my team, I would focus fire on him ASAP with everything...
What about durability though? I don't think anyone mentioned that. I'm playing without mods and afaik there's no way to repair bionic parts that got damaged, right? So, since exotic goods traders are kinda rare and usually have very few parts for sale, wouldn't it be a rather bad idea cutting off my people's free and renewable limbs without need?

Could I even harvest the parts after installing them without additional damage?
