.. i'm somewhat curious why your line is drawn at ♥♥♥♥-incest relations tbh. >,,,>
However the reality of the game play is that sex is presented only as two characters in a bed with hearts over their head and the action tag of "loving". It's not in your face that anything is really happening or going on.
In 33 hours of play I've never seen anything incestuous and I've only seen one homosexual, but that was a pirate raider who got locked in the dungeon until he died of the flu.
I have seen lots of people going berserk and attacking their friends because they saw some puke and blood on the floor.
I find it puzzling and more than slightly off-putting why anyone wouldn't. You're not grossed out by the notion at all?
At any rate, I've seen a couple stories mention mothers and sons entering romantic/sexual relationships. Those gave me the impression that incest happens at random in the game. And I noticed in a couple of the discussions for this game that homosexuals do spawn and form relationships. So, the horror of the possible amalgamation of these two occured to me as feasible, and gave me reason to pause in my previously potent enthusiasm for the game.
This all being said, though, if there actually isn't any incest- at least, in the base game- then my worries are allayed.
I like the wide open nature of the psychology simulator of the game, as well as my options for dealing with what I will or will not accept in MY colony.
That was another thing I wanted to ask about, in another thread: How much control you have over what happens. So, if I want, I can eliminate/persecute people on account of their actions?
From the reviews that I'd read, I'd found myself wondering how much control over the colony we actually had, since most of the stories are about what the people do, with very little mention of what the players themselves are doing.
Addendum: I only just now saw your first comment.
I'm going to take your testimony as viable evidence that there is no incest. Perhaps the incest I'd read about was in/from mods. Thank you very much, I appreciate your taking the time to answer me.
While i've never seen it happen, and i have had plenty of colonists related to one another, you could always just keep them away from one another to play it safe.
However you can certainly assign them safer or more hazardous duties or define the luxury they will live in.
I just recently figured out how to set up new areas to confine them in, so I built a little research hut off to the side of the map for an obnoxious, abrasive curmudgeon to live in without annoying everyone else.
Once, I punished a pyromaniac by entrapping him in an arena with a bunch of wolves. The pyro tried to light a wolf on fire and was summarily eaten.
I found something scandalous while reverse engineering the attraction code though.
Males can be attracted to anyone of preferred gender with age between 16 and own age +15, and they prefer partners that are at least 20 years old but younger than themselves.
Gay females are not attracted to males at all, but non-gay females are still 15% attracted to their own gender! But even straight females are only 20% interested in males, which means all straight females in rimworld are actually bisexuals with only a tiny preference towards men, and generally playing hard to get towards everyone?!
Females accept anyone from 10 years younger than themselves to no upper limit at all, merely being only half as interested in those that are 40 years older them thanselves. So there are no old women interested in young men, but there are young women interested in older men.
Uhh... This is in Pawn_RelationsTracker::AttractionTo() in case someone else wants to take a look :D
