Any advice on making a sustainable chicken coop?
Whenever I try, the chicken population gets out of control to the point where my computer lags from all the tiny little chicks my one cat can't hunt.

how do you make a coop exactly? i havnt got into husbandry yet, is there something you can do to confine animals in a certain area instead of runing around in my town?

You have to do it manually or use Colony Manager or some other mod.

Can't really say as I'm new myself. Do you have like tons and tons of animals constantly being bred? If it is too hard on the PC, could you just keep the male and female separated (using areas) until you need more, then let them get close again to produce more fertilized eggs? Or is a single hatching causing issues? Dunno =(

@wiike
Yes, you can go to the zone section, click on add to area or whatever and pick manage areas. Create a new animal area, then using the add to area tool, pick the new area you made (and should name to keep track) and draw an area.

Then when you click animals, you can select which zone to confine them to. This way you can keep them inside safetey of walls or out of your houses or whatever. Can do similar with people (just make a new area, not animal area) and set it so they can only be in certain spots if you need to (inside during fallout, away from traps, etc).

If your chickens are tamed you can make an area dedicated for rooster, without roosters the eggs wont get fertilized.
