Small collection of "is pick up and haul melting my colonists brains" ft. a question

New games, old games, with "while you're up", without it, who knows. I've got the standing bug but I'm almost 100% certain its Pick up and Haul and it seems to happen mostly with textiles, weapons, and raw food.
I have the Deep Storage mod but the items being taken to stockpile aren't configured to be stored elsewhere.
Almost everything being taken to stockpile also is not actively being used in a recipe (also the people who are breaking are exclusively assigned to hauling so no conflict of interest).

So aside from wondering if anyone knows the culprit or solution, my other question was simply - does bionics effecting carrying capacity in vanilla translate to Pick up and Haul or will your colonists only ever carry 35kgs of items?

All I can say right now is that the interaction between PU&H and Deep Storage is very likely to be the culprit, yes. I had to add extra an extra layer of compatibility when dealing with Extended Storage et al, so a similar interaction with Deep Storage doesn't surprise me.

P.S. Alfie has done it twice more attempting to haul the plainleather since this post has gone up. https://gyazo.com/1f79de436cd14310e96edf18d72b1dcb I am concerned

Pickup and Haul and While You're Up don't work together according to the devs.

I don't consider either mod stable enough for me to use regularly, as great an idea they are. Mods that try to change colonist AI to that degree are just too easy to break. Any number of mods in combination with them could be causing your issue.

No, the caravan inventory system was never updated to factor in things like bionics increasing weight capacity. There is a mod that fixes it though.

Cheers, friend. Its a shame but mod conflict is the path I chose I guess. Also, thanks for the mod suggestion, will try later.

I only use pick up and haul since they conflict, and a couple runs ago I had some fully advanced bionic (EPOE) androids that had carrying capacity of 900kg each. They could definitely carry around more stuff than your average colonist. Lots of mods involved of course, so ymmv

...oh and the only time I get a stuck pawn is when they are located where someone is building something. I haven't had the standing bug since I stopped using while you're up and pick up and haul together. The only oddity I have now is sometimes an animal handler will be hauling at capacity when a muffalo or something ticks up for training. I'll get error spam until they unload because the game is trying to send them to pick up some corn or whatever for training as their follow up task to the hauling, but its not super annoying. Also get those when I'm using large CE loadouts or Stock Up stuff, or when someone is weakened.

I've stopped using while you're up for awhile now so its gotta be some other conflict. That was the first mod to go that I thought for sure would be the culprit. In the OP I mentioned I got rid of it for a fresh save even and nothing changed.

The other "AI" mods I have are Common Sense, Smart Medicine, Build from Inventory, Meals on Wheels, Use Bedrolls, Where is my Weapon, Please Haul Perishables (Going to try getting rid of this one next), and I Clearly Have Enough.

My only "big mods" are Prison Labor, Dubs Bad Hygeine, and Vanilla Bionics Expansion.

I'm use Haul perishable, Common sense and While you are up
Can say never had issues with those 3 mods. Dono the others, just heard these what I'm use are not so friendly with other AI mods. But I'm OK with these 3. (And the many more mods what I'm use.)

Yeah I've stopped using Haul Perishables and it didn't change anything so I'm not really sure...
Preechr Apr 11, 2019 @ 11:54am
Well, if you canned Haul Perishables, the only ones you mentioned that I don't use are Build from Inventory and I Clearly Have Enough, which seem doubtful to be the culprits. How often are you seeing the bug?
Jarl Ballin Apr 11, 2019 @ 12:06pm
Depends on what kind of activity is happening. During harvest season lots of them bug out trying to move crop harvest, like maybe 6 or 7 times over the span of Summer. It occasionally happens with moving looted guns after a raid or when people are trying to haul chunks like slag or rock.

The bug was happening before I added I Clearly Have Enough to my playthrough so I'm doubtful that its the culprit.

When I find time Deep Storage is on the block to see if it effects anything when removed. Maybe theyre getting confused about storing multiple things on one cell.

Edit: Also have the Sidearms mod but that could only be relevant to the weapons which is not the only area the bug is occuring in.

Hmmm... could be though. I wonder if the problem might be that they are getting scheduled to go pick up a pile of stuff and all of it won't fit so they get stuck? Simple Sidearms just allows the use of any additional weapons they happen to have in their inventory, which actually could be the problem. Try having them drop their sidearms when it happens again and see if that gets them going again.

The bug specifically occurs when they're placing stuff down instead of picking it up - unless they're trying to pick up the same item they're putting down. Also worth mentioning is theres more than enough room to put their items down in the stockpile and the bug has occurred with a completely empty inventory save for the single item they're putting down i.e. a pistol.

Are you using Haul to Stack OP?
Nope :/

Ladies and gentlemen, we got em.

Fresh save with Deep Storage Mod and Pick up and Haul. No other mods whatsoever.
Not too sure whats causing it but I tried to stress the hauling factor of the game as much as possible by spam growing rice, hunting and butchering, tailoring, and having two chefs active constantly and someone finally snapped the second day into summer.

I have created a save state WITH THE COLONIST FROZEN in case anyone knows any debug tools I can see whats going on or if I can help in any further way.

Ninja edit: https://gyazo.com/f8670b8c251a480e989bed181b1b38fd Almost immediately after this also happened, which I have not seen occur before

Excellent. The save file is xml; many good text editors can open them and search thru them easily. A useful bit of information will be what the "curDriver" is for the stuck pawn...this is also findable using the InspectTool from the debug menus - which may be more useful. Specifically, are they stuck on one job, or are they switching jobs back and forth really quickly?

I will try and look at this when my brain's not already mush after a busy evening.

Wait, in your last screencap there, are they just hauling wood back and forth, back and forth? o.O

Really? I'll double-check my loadout to be sure, but I'm fairly sure I'm running both of these, and the rare errors I get related to them are easily bypassable.
