Best source of chemfuel?
So for my mechanitor mountain base, i use chemfuel generators for power. They dont produce toxic waste, which is good, because we already produce a lot of that, so id like to avoid toxic generators if i can. Originally, chemfuel generators worked well because the base was small, but things have upscaled a bit. We use about 36 chemfuel generators to produce all the power the base needs. Which means we use about 1000 chemfuel every 7 days.

Yeah, this isnt sustainable. How can i get more chemfuel. The map is really polluted, which actually used to be a good thing because the wastepack infestations would happen, which then I could just butcher the corpses for insect meat, and then turn that in to chemfuel. But i dont think theres an amount of insects I could butcher at this point to keep up with that demand. The infestations just dont happen fast enough. Ive started growing rice farms to turn the rice into chemfuel, but thats more of an emergency supply. I need something that produces a LOT of chemfuel. Seeing as most of the growing land on the map is now polluted and being used for psychoid plants, im not sure that i can just upscale the rice production. So what do? Whats the best way of getting chemfuel? How do I feed these generators?

Boomalopes. Easy to tame and everyday you can milk one for 11 chemfuel.

May I ask why you need to use any chemfuel generators at all?
Surely there are geothermals in the area that you could use to provide pollution free energy, let alone wind turbines and solar plants.

36 chemfuel generators? jesus, never had that many . Idk if it is the best, but since ideology, I've always done it with nutrifungus. In your case with the contamination idk, havent got to deal with it yet

Boomalopes hands down, if i get any of the chemfuel creators i sell them since they take like 9 days to give what 3 boomalopes give in a day

i have a reuseable pods mod that lets me use the pods over and over again so i burn thgouth fuel that way
i have another mod that gives a tier2 verson of all power generators
still a bit new to the 1.4 verson so im not sure if there are changes yet

There are geothermal generators in the area. Right now im using 3, but im gonna expand to cover all of them soon. Its still not enough. The whole base uses around 50000w, so even with all 5 geothermal being used ive still got 35k of power to generate. It would help, but i need more. I dont like using solar and wind, because then i have to build batteries, and it makes the zzzzzztt event worse. And there are plenty of things that reduce the efficiency of solar panels, and then i generate way less power. Chemfuel is consistent. You put in 30 chemfuel, you get 1000w of power for 7 days. No sunlight? dont care. Not windy? dont care.

Pollution is rough. Trees grow on it but they barely produce wood. The contaminated animals suck, you basically cant use the resources in the pollution because your colonists will get sick if you stay in it too long so you have to use mechs or just deal with being sick. The only thing its useful for is growing psychoid, because it can grow in pollution, although its at 80% growth speed.

One boomalope can easily keep up with 2 generators. Just tame them young and as soon as they have health issues release them into the wild.

Make sure to sterilize them because they breed like rabbits and you can't auto-slaughter, but use your best surgeon so there's no...accidents.

I think breeding like rabbits is exactly what i need right now. With 36 (and growing) generators i need a LOT of chemfuel, and soon. Ive only got about 4k chemfuel left, or about 28 days of power left.

Wonder how many wastepacks a tox generator produces its 1400w and the building to get rid of tox packs is 800w.

Yeah but the wastepack atomizer sucks. It takes too long to vaporize 10 waste packs. This base produces hundreds. I would need to fight a lot of apocritons to get the chips needed for enough of them to vaporize all the waste i produce.

The generators are decent, You need to spend 200w i think on the pollution pump to prevent it from polluting everywhere, but one pump can clean about 2 generators, so the most efficient generation you can get is 2600w from 2 generators. i just wanted to stop polluting the map. I have a better system for dealing with pollution but its not exactly perfect. I just send them away from my base in drop pods. I might not have a choice but to go back to them due to there not being any boomalopes in the area, just these garbage toxalopes.

Hydroponic rice into chemfuel produces more than the sun lamp and basins use when running off chemfuel generators, so net positive. At least that used to be true, probably still is.

A 70x60 field of toxipotatoes should handle it, if my math is right.

50KW? Damn lol.
Do you have Ideology too? If so, you might consider the Arcotech route in order to get your hands on Vanometric Power Cells (1kw per). They're stable, run forever and no pollution. They are also quite rare though.

On the side of solar / wind farms and battery zzzt I think I read somewhere you can turn those off in the custom storyteller thing. If you don't want to do custom difficulty this mod is the one I always run.
