Running out of RAM.
(428 mods lol) Hey guys, just wondering if there's any ways to lower RAM usage other than using RimPY's sort and RimPY's texture optimization. I have a 32GB of RAM and have never had this problem before. I'm fairly end-game with my modded colony and now all of a sudden, my game will play fine before about 30 seconds and then it'll max my RAM and crash. I've modified my pagefile size and everything. Any tips? (I ordered new RAM because I was needing an update anyway so if that fixes it, I will update.)

If you are running out of memory with 32GB of RAM then you have some sort of massive memory leak and should probably do some modlist culling until it stops and figure out which mod or combination of mods is causing it. The game shouldn't realistically use more than ~2-3gb of memory even with hundreds of mods. I run with 150-250 mods and the game is almost always in the 1.5-1.75gb memory use range. Rimworld uses very little memory, mods use very little memory, memory should never be an issue.

More RAM would just be a band-aid in your situation, something else is going on and it will just happen again if you keep playing that colony/mod list.

Download more RAM.

Is there anyway to troubleshoot specifically which mod would be doing it, or do I just go down the list uninstalling?
Deinstall rim threaded because of Memory leak... Thank me later

You can try this mod to see what things are doing what to performance.

Never have had Rimthreaded installed specifically because most of my mods are incompatible. I wish it was that lol

I do have that, will try to get the game to run long enough to see, but it's a pretty instantaneous spike from normal usage to 100% and then crash. I'm wondering if an event is queued up.

If you cant have your colony run long enough to get any useful info maybe start a new colony and see if anything is spiking right from the beginning. The issue might always be there and just gets worse the further into the game you go.

Yeah that'll probably be my next step. If so, RIP to a 40 hour or so colony.

I wouldn't give up on your long colony just yet. You might get lucky and find the culprit is something you can remove without any real negative effects.

It was Misc Robots ++ (Forked). Specifically a Tier 5 Hauler bot wonking out it's pathfinding.

I am experiencing this same problem, except my PC isn't running out of memory despite "Rimworld" saying it ran out of memory.

The Task Manager says that "Rimworld" is using, at maximum, fourteen gigabytes out of my thirty-two gigabytes of RAM. As such, it should not be possible for me to run out of memory.

Worse, I can close "Rimworld" and continue using my computer as if it never happened. Often, when "Rimworld" crashes straight to the desktop for this same reason the Steam Launcher Program closes out as well and I have to run the program again.

If the culprit is a game-changing mod like Combat Extended, then I feel bad for saying that, but you'll probably have to say goodbye to your save.
