Is there a mod to deal with this?
So there was a big mountain in the middle of my map and I started building my town around the middle, obviously. So eventually I figured I could make more room for extra storage buildings if I just chip away at the mountain, but then the mountain decides it's going to have a "heavy roof" that I can't remove. It's right there in the way of making another storage building, any advice on getting rid of that ugly lump of rocks?

There's a dev mode tool to remove roofs, including overhead mountain.

I mean....that's going to happen with any kind of roof if it's too far from support. Make sure there's no more than a 10 tile gap between walls or pillars and dig away. You'll be able to dig out those chunks safely once the roof is properly supported. Overhead mountain drops chunks when there's a collapse like that, but other roof types will collapse too. Advantage of overhead mountain is drop pods can't crash through it.

The overhead mountain roof basically means "it's too big to dig away. you just tunnel under it".

Is a very powerful thing to terraform stuff you you like that.

I had to re-read this a few times to get what you're saying, but I still don't think you understood what I was going for. I don't want a partial mountain roof over my storage shed, I just want a way to get rid of the mountain roof entirely. I don't care about transport pods crashing through it. I understand that roofs collapse when they don't have support.

That appears to be just what I needed, thank you!

I'm not sure why the overhead mountain roof would be unwanted for a store room, I thought the cave ins were the problem you were having with them. But, the dev tools as whatamidoing mentioned or the mod Zebra linked are both good ways to remove them.
