"disfigured" negative social
So why does missing a finger or a toe count against someones opinion of them? I got a colonist who got their toe shot off and now everyone has a slightly negative opinion of them because theyre disfigured. I just think thats kinda dumb. When i see people in real life who are missing a digit or... more than one, i dont suddenly think they are less of a person... (they technically are but thats not the point.)

given the resulting decrease in performance as well as that negative trait i can only guess that by design the wound healed in a nasty way that not good to look at.

I agree that it has a large negative hit for something as small as a missing toe, but thats vanilla Rimworld for you.

There are some mods that helped off set that.
Just type "disfigured" in the Workshop search bar and you'll see some options.

My personal favorite is when you lose an ear, you are disfigured. When you implant a cochlear implant (inside the skull) to partially restore hearing, you are no longer disfigured.... until you get another injury on that ear. You will then be disfigured again until that scratch heals.

I also think that if this disfigured thing is gonna stay in the game, then maybe dont have that be a negative social trait if the majority of the colonists have some kind of disfigurement. Lots of my colonists are missing fingers, toes, eyes, ears, all kinds a stuff. why do they dislike eachother because of the missing parts they all have? as for mods, its tempting, but i generally avoid mods in any game i play. It feels like it removes from the immersion and the experience because usually you can tell what is part of a mod and what is vanilla. you can tell the difference in quality between the two, and i really hate seeing that inconsistency in games.

Are you all using mods that change injuries/social? I've never had a finger or toe give the disfigured debuff, only head trauma.

i do not use any mods. Its hard to tell right now because all my colonists are pretty beat up, but earlier i was looking at the stats, and although one of my guys had no injuries other than missing 3 fingers. everyone had -15 to him on social.

In Vanilla RimWorld, deep body scars (marked in red) and missing body parts will always give the -15 disfigured social debuff to anyone with the exception of blind pawns.

In vanilla only facial/head injuries will give the disfigured debuff. This also includes temporary injuries to the face like bruises or cuts that are in the process of healing, so after a big battle with a lot of injuries you will see a lot more disfigured pawns for a while.

Scars and missing bodyparts anywhere else on the body never count as disfigured.

This has never happened to me. Not once. Unless, as I stated, it was on the head.

Right. That matches my experience.

Well RIP old lady who had her middle finger bit off for flipping off an angry antelope attacking her. Lady triggered manhunter and antelope bit off only her middle finger.

Now she's old, frail, disfigured, ugly and unwanted. Not to mention she got dementia / Alzheimer's and wanders around all over being completely useless...until her lungs helped someone who needed them. She'll live on providing air for a young whippersnapper pawn.

Such is the way of Rimworld.

Ya I just double-checked in game in case something changed somehow, but there's no disfigured penalty for losing a finger or other bodypart below the neck. I don't know why that seems to be a common misconception, it might be something a popular mod is doing like Psychology perhaps?
